| SOME THOUGHTS ABOUT PRAISE |
|
| |
I will sing to the Lord as long as I live. I will praise God to my last breath! May he be pleased by all these thoughts about him, for he is the source of all my joy. Let all sinners perish --- all who refuse to praise him. But I will praise him. Hallelujah! (Psalm 104: 33-35)
Consider how great God is -- the awesome Creator of the universe. Consider how sinful and mortal we are. Then consider how great God's love is for us. How can we help but praise him?
How are some of the ways we can express our praise to God? Here are just a few I found in the scriptures:
I will praise him from the bottom of my heart. - Psalm 35:10 With all my heart I will praise you, O Lord my God. I will give glory to your name forever. - Psalm 86:12
So we can praise him with all of our heart!
Each morning and evening they stood before the LORD to sing songs of thanks and praise. - I Chronicles 23:30 I will sing to the LORD as long as I live. I will praise my God to my last breath! Psalm 104:33
We can praise him with all of our time.
All of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. - Romans 15:6
We can praise him with others.
The Levites from the clans of Kohath and Korah stood to praise the Lord, the God of Israel, with a very loud shout. - 2 Chronicles 20:19 I will praise the LORD at all times. I will constantly speak his praises. - Psalm 34:1
We can praise him with our mouths.
There are many other scriptures, especially in the Psalms, that tell that they used trumpets, cymbals and other instruments to accompany the songs of praise to God. They sang new songs of praise to him and played skillfully on the harp and sang with joy. They praised him with a psalm! They praised God with the tambourine and dancing; with stringed instruments and with flutes! Also with the clash of cymbals and loud clanging cymbals.
So we can praise him with music.
I will sacrifice a voluntary offering to you; I will praise your name, O LORD, for it is good. - Psalm 54:6
We can praise him with an offering.
And then what does God do when we give him all of this praise? The Bible says that He inhabits the praises of his people! Is our God wonderful or what?!!!
LET EVERYTHING THAT HATH BREATH, PRAISE THE LORD. PRAISE YE THE LORD!
