| The Devil Went To Church Today |
|
| |
The Devil went to church today and even sat by me. Reaching over to shake my hand he seemed real friendly He dressed real nice and looked so sharp in his new shark-skinned suit He looked real handsome from his head down to his snake skinned boots. He gave to all a nice firm shake along with a smile. He seemed to know me as a friend he's known for a while. He knew all the songs and he sang them all by memory. He genuinely looked to be all he appeared to be. He did not go along when we all bowed our heads to pray I thought to myself: "Wonder why was he was acting that way?" When the offering came to us he passed the plate on by Dropping a buck he whispered to me "I'm just getting by." As the pastor began to preach he gave a little yawn. He must have stayed out all Saturday night playing 'til dawn As the pastor was preaching I heard him saying "Amen!" On the way out the door he said, "I'd give that one a 10!" He shook the pastor's hand firmly and headed out the door. Pastor shouted to him, "Wait! Have I seen you here before?" "I have been here several times but mostly visit around." Pastor welcomed him back "Well, come see us when you're in town." "Yes Sir! My friend ! I will, I will I can promise you that. I can't stay away all that long, rest assured I'll be back."
I rushed out into the parking lot calling out to him. "Sorry, I didn't get your name, can you give it again?" "Lucifer he said with a smile Son of the morning." "Don't come back again sir." I said to him with a warning. "I come and go as I please you can't tell me what to do. I go to church all the time the first to notice was you." I got to thinking about this strange event I'd just seen Lucifer seemed kind of nice and really not all that mean. Why was he there? And why did he even bother to go? Why would he go knowing that he was the most hated foe?
Then the LORD made it clear unto me later when I prayed "He goes to church all the time and to heaven night and day. At church he goes to hear what's said and to see who is there. He watches to see who is the wheat and who is the tare. Satan listens to the sermon to see if it is true. Then the Devil works his evil schemes trying to undo. He'll spread his lies and work to deceive making sure you fall He takes pleasure in watching my children forsake their call. He knows the Bible better than you to sow seeds of doubt. If he spots one on fire he will work to put them out. If the Devil sees one get saved he will not stand for it. He'll assign his demons from hell to try to make them quit." I said to the LORD, "Oh now I am starting to see why. Lucifer goes to church not to worship You but to spy." I said, "That makes sense to me I understand it all now. That is why when we prayed to You he would not even bow. He has come to church to check on us and to stir up strife. His goal is as it has always been to mess up our lives." It seemed the LORD said to me "Son, you've learned your lesson well." Just because you go to church it won't keep you out of Hell."

| It comes relatively easy, but the hard part is putting it all together in such a way that it is not a bunch of random thoughts. |

| I don't know if we can keep him out, but we sure can make him uncomfortable and not welcome that is for sure. |

| Excellent post! We do need to be aware that the devil can and does go to church to see what's up...we need to make him as uncomfortable and unwelcome as possible! |

Prudence: Yes, we must realize that we don't wrestle against flesh and blood. When the devil shows up at church and he will...he needs to be exposed and made very uncomfortable!
Jetta: You are a blessing to me and those are not just words! |

A very wonderful poem! The enemy truly does try to steel the Word that has been planted in our hearts. From painful experience, he'll never win! We might fall and trip and end up in the dirt, but Jesus' cleansing power, and refining fire is a blessed gift. I'd be dead without it!
Great writing.

| Forgiven: We are forgiven! The Devil seeks to rob, kill, and destroy but God's grace is greater than all of our sin! Thank God for the blood! They overcame the devil by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of thier testimony! |
