Our church is anticipating an important special called business meeting this coming Sunday, June 22nd. After a church wide fellowship dinner, hosted by the deacons every month, we will dismiss to the sanctuary where we will and vote on the proposal that the church leadership has introduced. The proposal is to establish another extended church campus in a yet undetermined location in our town called The Bridge.
Crossroads Church in Lillington, NC is an example of a church that is committed to building a system of multiple worship sites. They are now in the development stage for a new multi-site location in the same county at Anderson Creek. They identify themselves "One Church -- Two Locations" (Hence, "multi-site"). This is what our church hopes to do when we get approval from the body.
To me, it's a no-brainer. We shouldn't need a vote to join God in what He's already doing. Ask Pastor Steve Davis from the Spout Springs Community Church site. His is a church that is committed to connecting people to God and God to people. They are a group that believes that if you come dressed in comfortable clothes, listen to inspirational music that you grew up with, and listen to a meaningful message that speaks to you on your level, then you will experience God.
Ask Charlie Miller, Lead Pastor of The Intersection located in Bogue, NC. Not exactly a multi-site venue, but none-the-less, Charlie's home church has agreed to become a "Partnering" church because they believed in what God was doing. They trusted their pastor's leadership and they trusted Charlie to do the right thing for the sake of growing God's kingdom using "different" methods to reach lost people with the same gospel message.
Is our business meeting on the 22nd important? Yes! Will there be negative votes? Yes! Will God's work continue? Yes! Until He returns, we are committed.
5:38 And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will be overthrown: 5:39 but if it is of God, ye will not be able to overthrow them; lest haply ye be found even to be fighting against God. |
