16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
It has become very fashionable in the world today for many people to only think of their own well being. Many modern gurus teach the gospel of self worth and of possessions with great passion, and they do have a very large and captive audience. I can’t even fathom how many times I have heard phrases like, LOOK OUT FOR #1, or DON’T GET MAD JUST GET EVERYTHING ETC… This type of attitude is running rampant in every aspect of society. It can be seen with the failure to use simple manners when dealing with another person, or even to the extreme when people cause other people hardship just to make an extra buck. What makes an otherwise decent person put aside all compassion and selflessness and take up the gospel of money and possessions? The simple answer I find is often best, because it is easier. We are a society of convenience and we crave material wealth one only needs to turn on your some of the so called men of God TV evangelists to hear the preaching of the prosperity gospel. The question I beg to ask is this, if everyone walks through life thinking they are the only important person in the world how as God’s family will we ever come together? Won’t we be to busy stepping over each other to get ahead to see the greater picture?
12:31 The second is this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
Written by Patrick a servant of God chosen to be an apostle of Jesus Christ. |
