Today, as I was seeking a scripture that would generate thought for Monday's blog I came across this one on the MyChurch.org site (2 Cor. 6:14) and right next to the scripture it said blog this!
So here goes...
When you first look at this scripture it would sound as if you are never to communicate or deal with anyone that is a unbeliver but it is not saying that. As Christians we must always communicate God's Word and speak the truth. Jesus continued to communicate His Father's Word to all people (Jew and Gentile). The Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) tells us as believers to deliver God's Word to all nations, our communication must be truthful, spiritual, humble and delivered with agape love. But this scriputure is clear that we are not to be mismated, partnered, or fellowship with those that don't believe, that operate in self-righteousness, inquity and bring darkness to the fellowship...Light and Darkness can not co-exist in the same place.
There are only two options: Good or Bad, Holy or Evil, Truth or Lies, God's System or the World's System, choose this day who you will serve.
Joshua 24:15 "And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."
Now this separation can be very hard especially if it is a friend or even a family member but we must remember that our lives must be holy and acceptable sacrifices to God so that He can use us as examples of how to live, which is impossible if we look like darkness.
If we do what the world does, we say what the world says, we dress like the world dresses, we act like the world acts and we even think (powerlessly) as the world thinks. Existing and fellowshipping with those things that are not of God will drain you, discourage you and eventually make you "fruit less" and produce no good thing.
Light and darkness can not share the same space. One of them will always have to leave when the other enters in. The true test to identify darkenss is love...God is love, which means if you are a believer you have love and you have God. If you have God then you have love and through your love the demonstration will be through your actions daily.
John 15:9-17 sums it all up for belivers in Christ. God loved His Son (Jesus Christ) that He sacrificed His life for mankind and Jesus Christ died because He loves us. Love is always giving of itself to others, it is not selfish and would never consider putting personal feelings and agenda's in the way of sharing in God's love. God's greatness commandment is "Love" there are no gray's, it's written clearly in black and white.
Please share your thoughts, I would love to hear from you!

6:14 Do not be mismated with unbelievers. For what partnership have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? |
