| What kind of "singles" baggage are you carrying? |

OK,
This is more of a singles blog today! You see, I have started dating again, you know, kinda testing the waters and seeing if God has someone out there for me. I know that God will lead me into the right relationship, but you know, at 50+ I carry a pretty hefty load. It's really not sin, per se, but it's just the ordinary aspect of identity. Boundless's current bloggot me started thinking about this, and I'm sure I will continue in my thinking. Just so you all who aren't single don't feel left out, the same problem applies to our "God relationship". We carry tons and tons of baggage, you know, the "I can't do this Lord, or the "it's not who I am", or the " Lord you couldn't call me to this, I've blown it so many times", or lastly the " who me!!" response. Now I will not tell you that i have the answers, I, both gently, and not so gently, led my last date down a great number of paths, just gathering data, so to speak. I know I was as obvious as she was(she also did some gathering), but like the author of the Boundless article, when we were younger we responded in an easier way, we let chemistry and potential have the ability to draw us together, then God could do the cementing. At least, we need to allow God to draw us unto Himself, and allow the Holy Spirit to do it's work of cementing us into the mold of our Father, becoming like Him.
So, how should we then live?(catchy phrase) I don't know. I do know that God is in there moving around that room of my life, rearranging the furniture, straightening up the clutter, and maybe, just maybe carrying off some of my luggage, not to negate who I am, but to reveal what's hiding behind all that clutter. |

| Hey letting God touch some of those wounds to heal them takes courage. I know how you feel in many of these areas. Dating takes courage my friend, Trusting God takes courage too. Now that I think about it life takes courage. |

Congrats on taking your date on the data query path! Years ago, when I taught a computer class at Purdue, the scripting language for Quattro Pro spreadsheets included a {DATE} command. I made a joke about using the {DATE} command, and only those students who were still awake laughed.
Hey, I had a milestone birthday this week...39 and Holding! Cool! Perhaps that I am another year older is why I can't remember the rest of the {DATE} command joke. I really thought it was funny, though.
It's interesting to ponder about how persons select a spouse...young versus old...is there a difference? Is there any wisdom when we are older? If only I had known about the prophetic when I was young! I think it is wise to seek LOTS of confirmation!!!
So, go ahead and query the lady all you want to, Dennis. I think that's good.
What do the rest of you out there think about this? You all have some interesting points to make!
Kris, I agree with you about seeing what God can do. Isn't that true for everyone? What GOD can do!

Dennis and dating? I've been searching for a good woman for ya "Uncle Dennis", but so far can't find anyone worthy of your company. Hope you have better luck.
