Isn't it wonderful that the Lord Jesus did not make His commandment burdensome for His born again ones!? His commandment is simply to love one another. Now it can at times take effort because the example is found in 2 Corinthians 5:19
"namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation."
Now the Lord Jesus did say commandments. The beginning or introduction into this life that the Lord Jesus talks about is believing in Him and as Sturgeon said, "once you have believed, you simply keep believing." When the Lord Jesus talked to His disciples about "eating His flesh and drinking His blood" many of His disciples left because that was too hard to listen to and He asked the twelve if "they wanted to leave too?" And Peter spoke up wonderfully and said, "Where shall we go Lord? For you have the words of eternal life!" So Jesus is enough and we are satisfied with Him and I love you.
14:21 He who has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me; and he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him." |
