Chris wrote, "Chances are, if you've read Rick Warren's Purpose Driven Life, you've been touched by it."

Really?  I haven't read "the PDL," but the majority of my Christian friends have.  Could you elaborate on how exactly Warren is influenced by this?  A quote or two, perhaps?  I'm surprised, is all.  I was under the impression his book was pretty solid.

Seeing J.P. Moreland's name up there also shocked me, so I read the linked article on him for details.  Perhaps I'm just not "getting it" but the case seems to be much less than it makes it out to be, although that is not to say there isn't a case, for I do detect something odd about Moreland's writings in those quotes.  It could simply be a matter of "not-quite-right" theology from an honest, regenerate, born-again theologian, that, taken at face-value, could actually be good advice for the Christian, but easily taken to a further extreme which may end up (inadvertently) entertaining demons.

It's for these reasons that I'm hesitant to file Moreland with the "heathen New Agers" simply because of the suspect book he just wrote.  After all, J.P. Moreland is a phenomenal Christian apologist that has helped me tremendously, and none of the stuff I've read of his touched on this New Age stuff.

Perhaps the best thing to do is to show them their error and pray they realize their error and ammend their writings, thinking and ways.

Regarding the church at large, it's interesting you write on this, Chris.  I have recently read a few theological books from 20-30 years ago and all of them mention some kind of huge, near-future falling away into mysticism.  They saw the trends back then.  I guess we're in the full swing of it now.

Chris wrote, "Can anyone say ONE WORLD RELIGION?  HELLO!!?"

I can!  Better yet, I can sing it!  "It's the dawning of the Age of Aquarius!  Age of Aquariuuuus!  Aquariuuuus!  Aquar-i-uuus!"  Hehe

Luke 21:28 is a good verse, Chris.  Don't downplay it.  Everything is in God's hands.

Thanks bro.  Yeah, sometimes I wonder too if they are not just taking some sayings a little too far.  I wondered myself at JP Moreland, or at Max Lucado.  I think I saw Beth Moore's name mentioned on one DVD the mentioned with Lucado.  As for Warren, he talks about saying "breath prayers" on pgs. 89-90 of PDL.  I know about "arrow prayers" that Nehemiah prayed, and I've prayed some of those.  But the breath prayers evidently have a different source and more mystical origins.  I know Warren has continued down the road to the joining forces with Hindus, Buddhists, Gays, etc. in his strivings to "reform Christianity" along with the emergent church into a Kingdom-Now movement, leaving Christ and his work on the cross out of the picture.  You should research some of the articles on www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com.
