I was at a worship service recently and had a peculiar vision. I closed my eyes and saw people in the Lake of Fire with their hands raised and they were begging and pleading in desperation for the presence of God. The picture I got was of these lost souls, with no hope, and no future in a position of worship. Only, they were denied the very presence of God. This vision has left me on a path of pursuing the presence of God. God's will for us is to be intimate with Him. It's why Jesus died, it's what we were made for. I want to share with you what my pursuit has taught me.
In the presence of God there is:
Complete Acceptance- we don't have to fear rejection or abandonment. In fact there is no place for these feelings in God's presence because they do not apply to His nature in relationship to his children.
Unconditional Love- we cannot even begin to understand what this truly is because in our humanness it is impossible to comprehend. Unconditional love is a character trait of God. It is defined by Him and something that is never in question in His presence.
Unending Mercy- There is no limit to the number of times that God lets us off the hook. Mercy is an integral part of God's character because it allows us to even come into His presence. Without His mercy, we would be lost forever.
Unexplainable Grace- the favor of God is reserved for His children and we never can question or explain it but it's His free gift to us His children.
Absolute Forgiveness- I love this one. In the presence of God is the absence of shame. Sin has no power and does not define us or our standing before God. God holds no sin against us because Jesus bore everyone and paid it's complete penalty on the cross.
Inconceivable Peace- In the presence of God we experience no fear, no worry, no anxious thoughts. There is no place for these because perfect love drives out all fear.
Constant Affirmation- God is our loving Father. He is quick to let us feel and know how He feels about us. He embraces us and defines us by who He created us to be. He is well-pleased with us because we are his dearly loved children.
Unending Joy- we are at a place where the only sorrow that exists is over the state of sin in the world and the gievances of the Spirit of God. Aside from that, the joy we feel is beyond explanation. We often leave passionate and excited to serve the Lord.
Worship Without Words- here we experience the purpose for which we were made. We were made to be intimate with God and to reflect Him to the world in such a way that it draws others to Him. In His presence words are not needed. God sees our hearts and it speaks volumes to Him.
WE NEED TO LIVE OUR LIVES IN PERSISTENT PURSUIT OF THE PRESENCE OF GOD!
