As if the nor’easter that has been pounding the Mid-Atlantic States for the past 24 hours wasn't enough for my share of great concern for those around me and keeping me in prayer longer than usual this Monday morning, another school shooting has just occurred. And this time, not only did it occur at the college that I attended in the mid-1970’s, Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, one of the fatalities has occurred in the dormitory that I lived in; Ambler Johnston Hall. Details are sketchy in this ongoing and very active crime scene but CNN believes that a second shooting has occurred at Norris Hall with possibly another 8 or 9 casualties. One person is apparently in Police custody but there is possibly another suspect still at large.

Please everyone; pray not only for Virginia Tech but all of our schools. For me right now, I need to return to my prayer closet so I’ll be out-of-touch periodically throughout today.

I have not felt this level of grief since the attacks of September 11^th. On that day, I was inside a 9-1-1 Center at Police Headquarters on what started out to be a day of celebration and recognitions. You see, September 11^th (9-11) is the day that 9-1-1 Centers across the nation quietly recognize their employees for their unwavering desire to help the public in any kind of circumstance. And on that day, that is still very fresh in my memory, things deteriorated quickly.

Yes, situations can quickly change without notice.

We call upon the Lord Jesus Christ for strength. Be with everyone that has been affected today. In Jesus’ Precious Name!
