| The Spirit Led Life: Praying in The Holy Ghost |

We know not how to pray as we ought. How often I'm faced with the reality of this. Inadequate knowledge of the situation prevents me from really knowing how to pray effectively. For example, a young man who is in the extended family of one of our church members attempted suicide and now is on life support. How should I pray about this?
8:26Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 8:27And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what [is] the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to [the will of] God.
Thank God for the Holy Ghost! He knows the whole situation. He knows the mind of the Lord for this man and his family. He knows how to pray and not doubt. In short, He prays perfect prayers 100% of the time.
How we need this Holy Spirit baptism, if for no other reason than this; He helps us when we pray. Paul exhorts us, "Pray in the Spirit and with the understanding also." (I Corinthians 14:15) I notice that praying in the Spirit comes first. How can we possibly pray with the understanding until we have first prayed in the Spirit and He gives us the understanding.
Jude 1:20-21 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. It is like the alternator in your car. Prayer in the Spirit builds us up in our most holy faith. How often we can become weary and run down. Just a few minutes of communing with God in a heavenly language brings in times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord. (Acts 3:19) |
