| Will you just SIT STILL??? (or...) |
|
| |
How many times have you asked a child to do this during a school program or concert or other event/ceremony that required a certain 'quietness' from the audience? How much alike are we are in our response to God's pleas to "Be still and know I AM God"?
Our world spins at 24/7/365 and we feel that we must be in the world to make an impact... but it's not a 24/7/365 concept - it's "60/60/24/365" - every second and every minute of every day and for every day of the year. To be quite honest, "24/7/365" is NOT the standard... (1 Thessalonians 5:17)... we are to be in a prayerful state each second of every minute of every hour all day long - for each year that we are able to celebrate another day of life - being able to take a breath and know that we are alive. Sound like an insurmountable task? Try giving up your life for the drunks and addicted and fear-mongering that live on the earth today... Jesus did... our's is the lesser task...
Sorry, but we are to be in it and not of it. We must always keep our eyes fixed on the promise and always know the hope His promise secures to be able to not only be still and know (!) but to stay in contact 60/60/24/365... for it is from this "60/60/24/365" abiding by His spirit that righteousness will follow. If we only give ourselves to His spirit for 60-90 minutes each week, then as the bumper sticker implies, we will find that our righteousness is indeed weak (seven days without prayer makes one week (weak) ...).
We ask our children to sit still... so does our Father. So, again the question: will you just be stilll... and know... He is God?" 26:9 My soul yearns for thee in the night, my spirit within me earnestly seeks thee. For when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness. |

Amen LV, Good thoughts!
It's a witness to what The Lord is impressing on me as of late. That is He is The God of RIGHT NOW. Any thought, any song lyrics, any word, any beautiful-can-move-you-to-tears-so-good anything that keeps The Lord in the distance, He will be here tomorrow, or in the past, He did it for me before, don't let the thought keep God in the past! ( Like David use the things of the past to bring The Lord into the present and be encouraged)
Remember that the Kingdom Of Heaven IS within us! The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead IS within us! One of the best names of our Heavenly Father IS" The Great I Am,"....not I Was, not I Will Be. By meditating of these things, the old thoughts of -I meet with God every Sunday in church, or I meet with God every time I kneel to pray(which is not bad, unless that's the only time you talk with Him) are falling away to new realization that I can commune with The Lord 60/60/24/365! It's not any extra effort to get to a "place" to meet God, He IS right here, right now, He IS inside me right here right now, He does not leave, or forsake me.
All I have to do is be quiet, and let The Lord be God of this moment, every moment!
Peace to Y'all |

Thanks, Tom.
God is God each and every moment - yesterday, now and tomorrow . Problem is that the the flesh wants to dwell in the past, dream of the future and totally miss the blessing in the now! |

Amen LV!
God of Yesterday is the same God of today, tomorrow and all of the tomorrows to come. Like the song says we are weak but he is strong, so lean on him and he will carry us Thur our weaker moments. |

| Susan, that is indeed the key to us walking in the presence of the Lord - to lean on His strength and not our own!
