| The Potter And The Clay |

In the creation story in Genisis it mentions the mist of the earth and that man was made from the dirt. You mix dirt and water you have clay.
In many churches now days they teach the God spoke man into being and then breathed into his nostrils and Adam came alive. If you read the Potter and the Clay visions in Isaiah, Jeramiah, and Pauls writtings in Ephesians you will see from the origanal languages that Adam was carefully sculpted by the hands of God and the Holy Spirit on the wheel of life to be a masterpiece mirroring the image of God. God then gave Adam free will and it was from Adams choices that the clay became marred. We each are an original Masterpiece individually made as a vessel of God.
A professional potter knows exactly how fast to spin the wheel. They know just how much to wet the clay. They know exactly how much pounding, poking, squeezing, and shaping to make a master piece. Then they must turn on the kiln to just the right temperature and just the right timing to back the clay to where it will stay in the shape it is formed.
A pottery student watches the potter and says its all too easy. They spin the wheel as fast as possible. They wet the clay too much. They sqeeze the clay too hard and the clay goes flying out of control.
The potter is God and we need to learn that he is the boss and listen to him as He forms us on the wheel of life. He says He will never take us any further than what we can handle. If life seems to be spinning out of control that means we have taken over the wheel. The more we take over the wheel the bigger the mess of our lives.
I just found out recently that there is a religion now attended by Oprah. The pastor of this religion say that we are not made in the image of God but we as human created God in our own image and we can shape God any way we want. Ok, Isn't this saying we are the potter and God is the clay? Isn't this saying, We are more powerful than God? I will hate to see the can of worms this belief is going to open! |
