Let me set a story line out for you...
I asked a teen why she didn't become part of a group yet? Her reply, "there just isnt anything to do on MyChurch!" She said there was more to do on MySpace. She likes to do surveys. Is she wrong? No, she isnt. She is truthfully honest. Lets break it down a little more...
1. Which has more members in any given area? MySpace There is way more members on myspace than mychurch by far.
2. Which has easier capability to make your page look better? MySpace You have more web help to make you MySpace page better. Its harder to find html codes that work for MyChurch.
3. Which is easier to get in touch with old and new friends? MySpace Like I said there are more people on MySpace than MyChurch. Most everyone has a MySpace.
4. Which has more things to do? MySpace You can find music artists, comedians, garage bands...or even chat, post blogs, comments, add music, surveys about yourself...The list actually goes on and on...
Now here is where it gets edgy...
5. Which is easier to find fleshly desired material? MySpace You can find members acting and posing with their shirts up or their shorts way too short or the shirt too far down. They add pornstars to their friends and even their top friends. We have all these people on our page that we dont even know.
6. Which is easier to get away with something we want to hide? MySpace You can make your profile private so someone you dont want to see your stuff, cant. I have seen some people make two profiles. One to be all "sanctified" and the other page be their true heart. One page they have their church friends on and the other is the one where they pose sudductive and the other looks righteous.
7. Which one is the positive influence in your life? MyChurch MyChurch keeps you accountable and uplifted.
Why is it we stay away from the very thing that loves us and will be there when we are down? I am talking about our church family. Do we only go to them when we get down on ourselves or is it when we have allowed the world to beat us up. I dont know if you know this, but a girl hung herself in her closet because a classmate of hers posed as a attractive guy pretending to like her. When the girl found out that someone was making a joke out of it, she killed herself.
Why do we only run or talk to God when we are in trouble? We choose to stay away from the ones that lift us up and help us out truely. See MyChurch post blogs, but they arent like, "oh my gosh, did you hear what she said about the new guy that just moved in?" No, they are uplifting and some spiritual helps to get through with what the world is throwing our way. This is one of my favorite things that Pastor Richard says..."What you miss in the classroom today is what you are going to need on the battlefield tomorrow." We are missing so many lessons in class or "study halls" (which is reading our Word) in life that we mess up so much on the battlefield. And some of us, it never fazes or bothers us, to the point of wanting to change.
In my thinking, if I was to take this a step further...
I shouldnt go to church because the game on Sunday is more fun. or I shouldnt go to church because Sunday is the only day that I get to relax. I shouldnt read my Bible because watching t.v. is more entertaining. I shouldnt listen to the pastor because my music catches my ear better. I shouldnt tell people about Jesus because some believers and unbelievers want to hear something exciting.
Well let me tell those people this... Jesus isnt "exciting." HE IS! Jesus didnt give up His life and live a sinless life and ultimately die for you to watch t.v. listen to music and talk about American Idol. He came to give us freedom. All He asked us to do is spread His message. To love one another. Also remember that the devil fights us 24 hours a day and 8 days a week. When we take time off, he is planning another way to attack. And he is good, but my God is way way better.
So if you could, take every opportunity to learn more about Jesus. I double dog dare you. Because I know when you learn more about Him and listen to God more then, thats all you are going to want. Truthfully, thats why some people dont seek God, because they still want to sow their seed in the sinful nature. |
