| The Bridge Gains Approval |

There was a bit of concern on my part about the church's desire to become involved with the new and innovative way to reach the un-churched. Even though the pastor and I maintained an "open door" policy on this subject, there were not many people who came into my office to either ask about it, express their concerns or jump on board with it. Plus I only heard (through the "grapevine") the folks who opposed the multi-site; their main concern was the availability of all the specific details. I got the impression that because they were unaware of how new church planting (or multi-site extended campus) works, they needed all the details laid out item by item before they could approve such a thing. Even though we published and distributed a detailed start-up and implementation strategy (as much as we could gather in a general sense), we were actually looking for our church to "catch the vision" of the Great Commission and trust the leadership's well placed spiritual passions and innovative abilities to accomplish the mission of "making disciples" in our town.
With last night's approval (75% of the attendees approved the motion to start The Bridge) came the reassurance the God is in control! Even though this vote was a milestone, the work is just beginning. Let me take this time to thank everyone on MyChurch who has promised to pray for The Bridge and it's development and also those who have had an interest in what we are doing . I thank you, prayer has brought us to this point. I also solicit your continued prayers as we progress. I'll give periodic progress reports via this forum, so stay tuned! Praise God! |
