The "pins" make us think twice about what we represent. Not a bad thing if it causes us to slow down and think before we speak or act.  Good thoughts.

As I scrolled back through my entries tonight in order to post on other topics I paused at this title and smiled.  Why?  Because tonight I hold in my hands a very special pin.  One Bill and I designed together to give to all the local Team in Training members who given so much of themselves over this past season.  Each is a tiny purple tank top, like the jersey's they will wear come race day.  They say "Bill's Hero" and "2007"  I pray each pin will be a reminder in the years to come of what a powerful difference a person can make in the life of another.

The pins were a success!  My friend Vicki picked them up on her way to the first of three "send-off" parties.  She was giving them out to the folks heading to San Diego this week for their marathons.  Here is what she emailed:

First of all, the team LOVED the pins!!!!!!!!!!!  They were all so touched by them, I wish you could of heard their responses... First started with them all in unison letting out an automatic "OH!!!!!"
It was funny because a number of them saw the pin on my jacket before I talked to the group as a whole and they asked "Where did you get that!!!". I just told them hang on, I'll get to that soon!
The pins are so nice and such a thoughtful gesture and reading your card to them really was the frosting on the cake! I will bring the card with me in case you and Bill cannot make the next Send-off.  The very next one is for the Tri team, don't have the date yet, but think it will be next weekend out at Mentor Bruce's home in Eagle River.  I am hoping you and Bill can be at the Mayor's send-off since that won't be for a few more weeks (no date for this yet either).

Thank you Lord for leading me to just the right gift and the right words to touch the hearts that have so touched ours!
