6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
Fight! Yes, you read that right. It doesn't say, be passive, give up, give in, throw in the towel or raise the white flag of surrender. Jesus said, "The kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force." Matthew 11:12 This is our only reasonable option. We are in a battle and eternal life is at stake therefore we must fight! Against whom are we fighting? Ephesians 6:12 says, " For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." Our enemy is not flesh and blood. That means we have no quarrel with our fellowman. We are to seek peace and pursue it. This is not to say that the true enemy may not use human beings as his pawns in his war against us. We must then take care not to lose focus on who the real enemy is. It is a good fight. That means it is a fight that we win! We are guaranteed victory in every battle. 2Corinthians 2:14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causes us to triumph in Christ. Hear the word of the Lord as God spoke to Moses on the Red Sea shore. Exodus 14:14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. It is a faith if faith in other words it is a faith fight. The enemy would love to fight you on his own turf. If it were a fight of the intellect, a fight of skill, a fight of physical strength we would not stand a thread of a chance. We must fight in faith, continue in faith, walk by faith, and finally conquer in faith. The enemy cannot win a faith fight for our faith is in Him who already defeated him two thousand years ago.
