7:1 "When the LORD your God brings you into the land which you are entering to take possession of it, and clears away many nations before you, the Hittites, the Gir'gashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Per'izzites, the Hivites, and the Jeb'usites, seven nations greater and mightier than yourselves, 7:2 and when the LORD your God gives them over to you, and you defeat them; then you must utterly destroy them; you shall make no covenant with them, and show no mercy to them.
***This is my first shot of doing a series...Let's see how it turns out!!!
All of these "higher powers" or "nations" represent something negative in our lives. You can not live or have life with any of these, let's call them "ites," in our lives.
The first one they name is the Hittites. The Hittites represent the spirit of fear. Everyone knows 2nd Timothy 1:7 - God did not give us a spirit of "fear," but of power, and of Love, and of a sound mind.
Here are some synonyms of fear: agitation - anxiety - cringe - distrust - doubt - dread - flinch fright - horror - panic - phobia - terror - uneasinesss
God says that these nations are stronger and mightier than we are. Am I saying that "fear" is stronger than us? Yes! But it says when the Lord hands them over to you, you must destroy them completely. Its like you and God are "tag-teaming" these nations. Without God, we would lose. And God is giving us that feeling of conquering the enemy. He wants to fight with you. God just isnt going to fight all your battles while you sip on pina colada and watch the sun go down. He wants you to fight for the win. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait!!!
This is how I see it...
You have a teen that just turned 16 and their parents buy them a brand spankin' new car. The parents pay the note, gas, insurance and everything else. Now most teens that have that opportunity just doesnt appreciate it much. Now on the other hand, a teen buys their first car thats 10 years old for $500 and pays all the maintenance, insurance and gas on the car. Most teens in this category will take care of it. Because they had to work for it.
We have got to work hard to destroy the fear in our lives. The devil isnt going to stop. The fear just isnt going to go away on its own. You have to speak to that mountain in your life and tell it to move. God promised that we can defeat and destroy the enemy, which is fear. Now the can puts the ball in our court. It doesnt say will, it says can, meaning that it is up to us to make a decision to defeat and destroy the fear in our lives. Dont listen to fear, dont give it an inch. Smash it in the ground, set it on fire, rip it apart...Do what you have to do to get rid of it COMPLETELY in your life.
Say this prayer
You Hittite spirit, I bind you and your powers from operating against me or to break me or to cause me to fear. The activities of doubt and unbelief are bound in my life, in Jesus’ name and I command you to let me go from fear and the spirit of fear to leave my life. And now I am free, in Jesus’ name. Amen!!! |

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage be not afraid neither be thou dismayed for the Lord is with thee withersoever thou goest! Josh 1:9
Fear not for I am with thee be not afraid for I am thy God! Isa 41:10
Take no prisioners! If we give fear an inch it will take a yard! Give it yard and it will take a mile! |

Amen brother, Everything that I have I had to work hard for. When we work hard for something that we want we feel good when we finally get it. If we try hard to kick Satan out of our situations and everyday problems its very hard and impossible to me, but when we work with God (teamwork) it seems very easy. We have to be willing to give a hand to help because he's not going to do it all for us. |
