| Church Dead or Alive? |

At Pizza Hut last night I ran into one of the new families that are visiting our church. Julie and Charlie Gardener are a great couple and I enjoyed visiting with them for a little while. She is a teacher who works with Howard Nicely and Karen Bradley at church. Charlie used to run the sound system for a band. They are planning on taking the 201 membership class in May. I believe they will be a great blessing to our church. How can you tell when a church is dead or alive? I think life change is a critical sign. When people are being saved and growing spiritually the church has life. I am encouraged by the many new families I see visiting our church every week. I think we are heading in the right direction. Now if we can just get them to connect with our fellowship and become a vibrant part of Faith. Tonight in my class I will be teaching on worthwhile worship from Matt. 6. Jesus is warning us about the dangers of dead religion in which our motivation is not honoring God but the applause of men. What is scary is we can just be going through the motions as the pharisees were and not even realize we are a part of dead religion. You can get a copy of the lesson here just look under Wednesday column and click on link. I am thankful for a church who is willing to eat pizza for Jesus. :) |
