STRAWS Ministries is a Christ based organization on a Christian endeavor. Our mission is to assist families in need regardless of their circumstances, and help them to become independent from government assistance.
STRAWS Ministries, along with its supporters, is called by God to give at risk families a hand up NOT a hand out.
STRAWS Ministries offers a spirit filled, dedicated staff and volunteer base that will assess the families’ needs and assist accordingly.
Unlike other programs already in place, STRAWS Ministries is committed not only to meet our families’ needs, but also to mentor them until they can meet their own needs without our assistance or the assistance of any government program.
Our purpose In STRAWS Ministries goes beyond reaching out to meet the financial, physical, and social needs of our families. It is our deepest desire to lead them to Jesus Christ. He alone can meet their spiritual need of salvation.
STRAWS Ministries is the vessel offered to God for His use in reaching as many souls as possible and bringing His children home. It is our intent by helping them physically that it will open the door for them to know Jesus as their personal Savior.
STRAWS Ministries is the parent company for several programs that are being developed.
PLANTING FAMILIES is our most ambitious project and is designed to coordinate volunteer groups who will sponsor one family at a time and commit to work with that family for an extended period of time until they are self-sufficient.
This may include:
· Meeting the family’s basic needs such as food, shelter, clothing, home furnishings and home and auto repairs
· Assist with education and job placements (GED assistance, vocational training)
· Family stabilization (emotional, financial, and spiritual)
Also in the Planting Families program, participating families will be required to remain drug free and pledge to give back to the community by volunteering at STRAWS Ministries to help others.
BIG LIKE DWIGHT is a mentoring program that will link a struggling individual with a mentor who will guide them in making wise choices. Unlike other mentoring programs, we will mentor adults and youth.
TRUANCY PROGRAM We have found that truancy is a widespread problem among many of the youth we work with. It is a burden on the courts and a financial drain on our government. Our program will encourage youth to attend school until graduation and realize the value of their education.
OTHER PROGRAMS While in the process of developing STRAWS Ministries we have met many individuals who have a call from God on their own lives to help others. It is our desire to be able to partner with them to expand our opportunities to help families in crisis. At some point we hope to have a trade school, a camp, and provide childcare for working families. We can think of many programs that need to be developed, but we must wait until the Lord provides workers and resources.
STRAWS Ministries is a non-profit organization.

· Volunteer your time to work with families or help with fundraisers
