Well hello everyone! Tonight Dan and I had our first Karaoke experience with our friend and co-worker, Kuniko. We had a BLAST. In box-karaoke in Japan, they have one big building with lots of little rooms ("boxes"), which you rent by the hour. You can order drinks or food or whatever, or there are vending machines around where you can buy coffee and whatnot. In your little room, it's just you and your friends, so you're not singing by yourself in front of a bunch of random strangers in various stages of intoxication. We sang along to the most ridiculous made-for karaoke music videos you've ever seen. We sang such timeless classics as "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" and "Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper (ok, those were both me), "Wonderwall" by Oasis, and "Pop Star" by Japanese supa-star Ken Hirai - feel free to look that one up on YouTube, it's hilarious. Please be praying: For a new apartment! Ours is currently a "renovated" hospital, which supposedly gets so cold in the winter that you have to put glasses in the refrigerator so they don't freeze. For us to learn the language! It's really enjoyable, but also going very slowly. For our relationships with people we have met here so far, as well as for new friendships with people close to our age. For our church here! We have already made several friends at church, which has been really great for us. This weekend they are having a group of Korean gospel singers do a concert, then a BBQ in the evening. Please be praying for that, as it's also an outreach to our community. THANK YOU!!! Please let us know how you are doing and if there's any way we can pray for you guys! We love and miss you.
