| Time for a profile update (or Norm needs new questions) |
|
| |
I'm thinking it's time to update my profile, and I'm looking for other's help. Mike's blog on names got me thinking there are other questions that could be answered. They don't have to be serious, they don't have to fit a theme, although they should be mostly sane. I also am not sure I will answer things like "How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck would chuck wood?" because those seem better suited to be answered by woodchucks. I don't promise to answer them all (especially if woodchucks would be better suited to answer the question) and you may get the answer here first... |

| Well, simple works on a profile too! All I've got on mine presently is a long list of blog titles and a music player (not set to play as soon as my page loads -- lol). |

Mike I'm stealing a line from Jeopardy. Next time, I need you to phrase that in the form of a question. :) No music player as I don't find that simple. Too many good tunes to choose from especially since we are narrowing it down to song format. For example in the past week (walking backwards) I've listened to. Beethoven's 9th Symphony Sara Groves - Child of Love Day Of Fire - Jacob's Dream Petra - The Coloring Song David Crowder - Can You Hear Us? Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody, Bicycle Michael Gulezian, Chariots of Fire, Enya - (Computer picks random combination of those for about 4 hours worth of music to sleep to) However usually I don't listen to music so much as I do podcasts. And there was one that I found really good this week with a interesting history of end times prophecy. You can find it here. You'll need to get between 10-15 minutes in before the topic turns that way. MP3 format here, or if you prefer a different format, look here So although you didn't directly ask, the current format was/is simple for me. I'm just looking to do more of a collage of questions. |

How does a woodchuck chuck wood? When I think of a woodchuck chucking wood, I picture these little woodchucks throwing (chucking) wood sticks at people. So how how much wood would a woodchuck chuck? I dunno.... think you could answer that question? ;) |

| That does seem like an item that a woodchuck isn't going to be too much help on, since they seem loath to give up industry secrets. I'll have to do a little research. |

You haven't heard of the woodchuck industry? Very similar to groundhogs. Except they occasionally don't see their shadow on groundhog day (unlike the groundhog). Well that and the whole woodchucking thing. |

Note to self Answer what happens if a section of profile is deleted? (In the vein of "If a tree falls in the woods and no one hears it, did it still fall?" or whatever that silly question is) BTW, the answer to the tree question is "What universe are you in where God didn't notice a tree falling?" |

How old are those songs? How many roads must a man walk down, before they call him a man? Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing? Puff, The Magic Dragon lived by the sea and...... WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! That song always makes cry (well actually cry might be a little strong, but it's one of those songs that make me sad) Poor Jackie Paper. How old are those songs? Well the thoughts in them (including Puff) have been around for a long, long time. |

Frolicked in the autumn mist, in a land called Honalee
Doesn't sound like a reference to drugs to me. I think that's all an urban myth. (I don't know what I'm talkin about) |

| I think I heard in high school one thing, then it was refuted elsewhere- I know the singers (P,P & M) themselves denied it, but would they now??? |

I loved the cartoon version (link to youtube) of Puff a lot. I even picked it up for my kids when I found it on DVD. EEKS! Looking for the link just now, I found that the suggested section at Amazon (for Puff) includes Rikki Tikki Tavi, which also brings back many fond memories. You want a look into Norm's head, his "media" memories from youth include both the aforementioned Puff, and Rikki Tikki Tavi, as well as Pip Squeak, Mouse in Shining Armor. My mom always got a kick out of me with that book because I would return it to the library one week only to check it out the next, if I waited that long. (Sorry for not having a better link for that one, but it appears to have been out of print for a while.) Anyways, back to Puff. There was another video of Puff (in the Land of the Living Lies) that came out later that I think I saw once. And then one more (the Incredible Mr. Nobody) that I don't remember. It's made even better by the fact now that I realize that it's voiced by Burgess Meredith Is it a song about marijuana? Here's a link to the lyrics. These of course are the ones that hit me at that age. I really don't know why, but it still makes me whimper even today. A dragon lives forever but not so little boys Painted wings and giant rings make way for other toys. One grey night it happened, jackie paper came no more And puff that mighty dragon, he ceased his fearless roar. His head was bent in sorrow, green scales fell like rain, Puff no longer went to play along the cherry lane. Without his life-long friend, puff could not be brave, So puff that mighty dragon sadly slipped into his cave. oh! Anyways, back to the actual question. You've got to wonder why "hippies" who were for drugs would argue it wasn't about drugs even until this day, if it indeed was about drugs. I'll link to the wikipedia article which has a lot of references. And then a snopes.com article which to me is even more convincing.
