In this day and age, there are so many religions to choose from. Over the past week I have been studying the Mormon religion. I have learned that they do have a plan of salvation but it is totally different from what the Bible says. I have read James 1:22 many times before, but after this intense study of another religion it rings another bell for me. We are to be doers of God Word. The only way that we can be that is to stay in It. We can't just trust what people tell us about God, we have to read It for ourselves and ask the Holy Spirit to guide us in understanding It. After all, the Word is our guide and the Holy Spirit is our Helper. I am not saying that we should not trust our elders in the church. God has placed them in our lives to teach those that are younger in age and in their walk with God. What I am saying is the same thing that most school teachers say when you don't know how to spell a word, go look it up.
1:22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. |
