I switched on the TV today, and instantly I was excited because Law & Order Criminat Intent was recording! It was a brand new 2008 episode!
So, I clicked PLAY and waited.
The first scene was a semingly Indian lady by the name of Mrs. Khan being escorted by her assistant. The next scene is a shot of JFK Airport where a woman's voice announces the recently landed flight from Sri-Lanka. This instantly captured my undivided attention!
Why? Well, because it is my homeland! YAY! Finally! Someone in Hollywood was doing something on Sri-Lanka!
But then I felt my heart start to squeeze and my stomach churned. The Mrs. Khan was a Tamil woman. Apparently she had been under house arrest in Sri-Lanka and was released where she flew to America her "second home".
Throughout her political speeches she talks about "peace" and a free "democratic" Tamil homeland. A homeland that the Tamil people must work toward.
A homeland that is currently being eked out of my country. The Tamil people could have lived peacefully side-by-side my people, but no, they up and decide that they want a homeland! Because India is not enough for them!
What sickens me, is that USA NETWORK wants to bring a sympathetic light, and a certain sense of celebrity to a TERRORIST ORGANISATION, and people who have a home, but want to take someone else's away from them! Namely, my homeland! And how do they do it? by strapping bombs to the chests of women and driving busses into crowded Sri-Lankan cities. The bombs that explode kill innocent people like my beautiful childhood friend who died when a pane of glass sliced her neck in half. Bombs that explode not two miles from my uncle's home, where there are over twenty cousins, aunts and uncles who could have died.
Why not put a Sri-Lankan individual in the spotlight!? And why not make it a good celebrity status rather than something horrible!?
This show is like taking Osama Bin Laden and putting him in a TV show and showing it on American soil!!
How thoughtless and merciless and ignorant of whoever wrote this show.

Well, the "event" that these ******** are indirectly signalling is a very real WAR, with very real victims, and very real consequences. So this statement is in fact FALSE!
Just to give you an idea, this is the size of India: 3,287,590 sq km (1,269,345 sq mi)
This is the size of Sri-Lanka: 65,610 square kilometers (25,332 square miles) and a total coastline of 1,700 kilometers (1,056 miles). Sri Lanka is slightly larger than West Virginia.
This is the size of Tamil Nadu: 130,058 km2 (50,216 SQ MI) and is the Southernmost state of India.
Can't these "INDIANS" go back home if they're not happy living peacefully in Sri-Lanka?
Of course, I don't condone the war efforts on the Sri-Lankan part either, but I'm not Jesus; I applaud them for fighting for Sri-Lanka's freedom, much as our US soldiers fight for ours. I just wish Hollywood wouldn't make it harder for them!
I'm glad Vincent D'Onofrio didn't act in it. I love his acting way too much to not watch him act again!
Because from now on, I will not watch another Christopher Noth movie. Never did like the snot anyway! Carrie's better off without the pig! |
