Choose your thoughts for success............Please press play below or you may read the text version. Choose your own thoughts for success Hey everyone, I got inspired the other day talking with a friend. After I had typed a bunch of stuff out I realized that what I had said was pretty inspiring and I wanted to share it with ya'll on mychurch. For the past 9 years I have struggled with depression and because of this, I was forced to learn to live my life, not on my feelings but on the word of God. I was also forced to dig deep in self help books to understand why I felt this way and learn how to defeat depression naturally, without drugs. I still struggle sometimes today, but through changing my thoughts and other positive habits I have come a long way. The human mind is a machine and works with what you give it. If you give it positive things to think about and positive things to do, it will use what you give it and act out. It will release brain chemicals accordingly, making us feel up or down. A good example of this is how the other day, I was discouraged in the morning, but after talking to my dad , for like 5 min, I was encouraged. I felt hope again, I asked myself, why did I feel so much better? I felt better because I was reminded of the successes that I was making. I was moving forward. And I was also reminded that with God, all things are possible! I then realized why I was feeling down this morning. I was thinking thoughts like " nothing is gonna change. " " I'm gonna be stuck here in the same place a year from now" and many other negative ones. I didn't challenge these thoughts so I was dwelling on them and my emotions followed. Now these thoughts weren't true, but our emotions don't know the difference between true or false things, they just respond to what we think about. An example of this is how when we watch a scary movie. We know it's just a movie, but we feel fear because of the thoughts we are having. I personally don't watch scary movies anymore but I remember when I used to. Anyways...... This morning, I had to catch myself and I realized something I had learned a while back. . It is up to us to decide our thoughts......................... It is in our power to decide how we are going to think about situations in our life. We decide whether we are going to think positive thoughts about the day or negative ones. Many and probably most of the events that happen during our day are neutral, and we choose to interpret them as either positive or negative. Since we can choose what we think about, and how we see things, we can change our emotional state. We must choose to think about the truth of Gods word rather than the negative lies of the enemy. The negative thought may say "today is gonna be hard, what if you can't handle the challenges ahead?" " What if you fail?" The right thoughts should answer back...... "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" If we want to live a victorious life we must choose to make our thinking line up with God's word. The positive , successful, faith filled thoughts. Have you ever done any positive affirmations? I started doing them again in the morning. I just declare what God's word says about me and how I am going to have a successful day. I used to think that doing affirmations was weird or even some strange psychology/anti Christian thing. I now realize that when said aloud each morning, sent forth out of your mouth with faith attached, they can be a powerful tool to setting you mind on the right thoughts for the day. Mine affirmations usually also end up in prayer and thanksgiving to God as well. Kinda like a prayer/ afirmation. I want to encourage you to write some out and try it for a week. Declare things like, "Thank you Lord that today is going to be an amazing day!" Thank you that you are leading me and guiding me, that I will meet the right people at the right time, and at the right place. " Thank you that I am blessed and that I'm your son." "That I can come to you like a son would a father." " Thank you Lord that every need will be supplied and I will be successful in accomplishing the tasks that you put before me today. " Write them out and try it for one week. Say them outloud in faith, first thing in the morning and see if it doesn't change your life. Now make sure you do it in faith, and know your scripture so you have a true foundation to make your claims. There are some amazing promises in God's word for us, His sons and daughters but we have to know them in order to believe. You are deciding how your day will be in faith and God will bless you as you walk in faith. You may also want to use these along with written goals and affirmations that you might want to review throughout the day. This will help you be successful, because It keeps the mind committed and focused on the right things. The mind is like soil. when we plant positive things consistently, we will eventually have a positive harvest. The same goes with negative things. These things are just some of what I've learned and to what I can attribute my positive attitude, even in the midst of trials . I have filled my mind with positive things over the last few years. It's given me faith to believe in a BIG God, and to believe Him for BIG Dreams. This guy I listen to and learn alot from, Mike Murdock, ( www.mikemurdock.com ), says, " Your future is decided by the voice you have chosen to believe" Do we believe God's voice or another? The people that you surround yourself with, or listen to or whose books you read, is really important. What they say to you are like seeds planted in your brain and heart. If you are not satisfied in regards to the way you think, or with your life, you must consider making changes in these areas. We are constantly being bombarded with either negative things or positive things. If you can change your thoughts for the positive, you truly can change your life for the positive. Phillipians 4 verse 8 says "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is fair, whatever is pure, whatever is acceptable, whatever is commendable, if there is anything of excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy-keep thinking about these things." Every song, every TV program, every article we read, every radio program, everything we put in our minds will harvest in our future. If we don't challenge the negative thoughts with the word of God, we are sure to see a future harvest that we don't like. Now if I was discouraged and you were talking with me trying to help encourage me, what would you say? You would probably try to see the positive and then remind me of it right? Well, you can choose to be your own positive coach and speak positive things to yourself. The bible says that "David encouraged himself in the Lord" 1 Samuel 30 verse 6 Right thinking leads to success, and happiness in our lives, and wrong thinking leads to pain, disappointment and unhappiness. if you want to know the final authority on right thinking, it's the bible. Jesus said in Matthew 11:28, "come to me , all who are burdened, and heavy laden. take my yoke upon you, for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. " That lets us know that it's not all up to us though, God will help you. He loves you and wants you to have a happy life. His way, is the way to happiness and by making our thoughts line up with His, we will experience this. The world is broadcasting a message on how to live life. Choose today which station you will tune into, and then stay on that station. Don't let anyone change it. Let that station be God's station where His thoughts about you and your future are broadcast. Choose your own thoughts daily, and just watch the amazing things that happen in your life. Rob Lovegreen 2008 |

| Amen. Depression is a strong enemy. I think its sword is low self esteem. Depression's shield is talking about it. So your word is true and confirms what the Lord has been speaking to me. What He thinks of me is more important than what I think of myself. I told a good friend the other day that 'I am a master at hiding in plain view.' Pastor Ron's sermon and Pastor Josh's last week was basically a counceling session for me. And Pastor Ron's timely word that its time to get re-involved in God's work. |

| I In the past depression has been a problem for me. I have learned the signs that it is coming on and what triggers or magnifies it and I avoide those triggers and who I should surround my self with so I don't stay there. We all have down times we, and that is not the most horrible unchristian thing but we must choose not to stay there. We must choose to get up, get out, and live. Depression robs us of our life. It really is so simple, we make it complicated. good blog. |
