"The End of the Spear" "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose." --Jim Elliott and I met Elizabeth Elliott in 1983 when God called me to be a missionary. She gave the testimony and to say the least it greatly effected me and Jim E. is a man with the gift of PASSION for Christ.

Brother Todd does any one at your Church have a copy of the DVD movie and they could send it to me??

Love in His PASSION, Doc. ;-)

I have seen Through The Gates of Splendor--the first time I heard this story--and I must say, I was deeply moved...especially by the hearts of those wives that took up the place of their fallen husbands...willing to die too if it were to be required of them...to save any...they weren't assured of even reaching one.

As a child I remember going to the Museum of Natural History in San Diego...they had a shrunken head that had been donated to the museum on display for many years..the agreement for the loan to the museum was that the story be told...it was the head of a missionary who gave their life for the teaching of the gospel. I remember being horrified at first and then astonished...and mesmerized by the story...who would give their life like that?

Compelling, my Brother1 A great blog
! I hope it leads many to watch these movies and read these stories....it is beyond moving!

Powerful blog Brother Todd...I must check into getting a copy of these books myself.  May the Lord equip all of us to have that kind of faith that will preach the gospels, even in the midst of all the obstacles that may come our way.

Oh yes, this is a movie worth watching. You can find it at your local movie store, net flicks etc..

Birdie:  A shrunken head?  That must have left a strong impression on you.  But, yes the wives what a story!  It is one thing to die for Christ, yet another to live for Him.  Thank you, for reading and commenting.

Forgiven, Stuart, MarJay and Cindy Lou....yes, find the movie you will touched, inspired, and blessed.  Thank you, all for reading and commenting!

I've heard of this story before, but didn't know a movie was made about it.  It's hard to believe people would venture that far from the comforts of home.  Even more, it's hard to believe the wives' passion to forgive and continue the mission!

ED:  This such a worth while movie to watch.  Let me know what your thoughts are once you do.  As they often say, the book is better than the movie and it is the case here.  But, even with that said, the movie is good!  It will move you.

Very inspiring stories indeed!  Lives given wholly to God, no matter what!
