There are things that I have done
That pierce my heart like a knife,
Things that caused destruction
Unhappiness, and strife.

I've burned a bridge, or two
And went on my foolish way.
I lived in selfishness
And lived only for the day.

It took my death to reach me
After that horrid look at myself.
His Words in the Bible weighed me
Once I again took His Word off the shelf.

My soul became undone
And went down towards the grave
Until an intercessor
Caught my soul, to save!

He filled me with True Love
And forgave this horrid mess.
He gave me His Word to prove it,
And my heart, and soul, He blessed.

I can't say things are perfect
And that I never fail,
But He keeps my soul from drowning
In the churning, foaming gale.

He allowed me to see my weakness
And then, He let me live,
And I believe He left me here,
So Encouragement I'd give.

So, if you're filled with sorrow
And you know you've lost your way,
Turn to Jesus, our Saviour
And He will light your way!

Think of the glory that awaits us
When our life on earth is through.
He will finish what he started
In the hearts of me and you.
