We went to the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC this week. For Donna it was her first visit and my second.
It is a sombering experience and leaves unanswered the question, not why do evil people do evil things, rather why do average "normal" people do evil things?
Is there a sin nature that compels us to do evil ? Is it the sin of society that causes us to sin ? Many people did not particpate in the actual Geoncide of the Jews, instead they stood by and pretended that nothing was going on. Are they held accountable by God for their inaction to allow evil, I think the answer is yes.
As believers we are called to be active in the good fight, rather than passive bystanders. |
