| Just Read It |

Again, Im thinking. Its a better kind of thinking I guess. People place a lot of emphasis on reading the bible daily. Some people even read it twice. At the Saturday night bible study I go to we start out by asking how manypoeple read 7 days, then 6, then 5, ect. Last week I read all 7 days but had a hard time raising my hand. Some days it really spoke to me and I was able to take something from the text. Other days I just read words. I was reading my bible because I had to. Because church tells me to and because I want to raise my hand saying I read every day at the bible study. Some days what I read just goes over my head. Other days my head isnt even in the game. Some days I am loking for answers. My purpose in reading is never really the same. I have decided to stop raising my hand when asked how many days I read. I really dont care about reading every day, I care about gaining something from the text.I feel like the question should not be how many days you read the bible but how many days you took something out of the bible. How many days you learned something. This is still something I have to work on though. |
