I have had the opportunity over the last few months to make some observations about the blogging and commenting that goes on here on the MyChurch website. By in large most of the discussions and threads are positive and encouraging. I personally think that it a great testimony to the bond of love that we have for one another through Christ in our interactions with one another. However, from time to time I see some authors knowingly post controversial subjects but, yet get offended when someone disagrees or challenges their positions. I have seen many posts saying, "Good-bye, this is my last blog" because.... they were offended by some. I have seen others back off speaking their mind because they expect some sort of verbal retribution for taking a stand. I even remember seeing one blog announcing to all the haters to back off and another post questioning when it is right to delete comments from people who posted hateful or inflammatory remarks.
A point I would like to make is that if not everyone is going to agree with you or even like you. Be careful about sharing your heart, be careful about sharing personal experiences, be careful about sharing your nuggets of truth because some people may not appreciate things like you appreciate them. Jesus warned us about giving what is holy to the dogs (people who don't appreciate truth) or casting your pearls (personal experiences, personal revelation, things that are dear to you like you faith and beliefs) to the swine (the unclean or unholy) only for them to trample them under foot. Be careful about what you publicly post for the whole world to read.
On the flip side, this is a great place to make new friends and to fellowship with others who are like-minded. It is a wonderful place to receive support and encouragement as well. I have also found this to be a great forum to express ideas and to have profitable discussions about the things of God. Just bear in mind that there are wolves in sheep's clothing and that there are diverse people with diverse beliefs coming from diverse backgrounds. Do not be surprised if not everyone likes you or agrees with you. I know for some us, that is a difficult thought to fathom, but it is true so be careful who you cast your pearls before lest they be taken for granted and you wind up hurt and offended. |

| Now Brother Todd...doesn't everyone love you? hehehe...this is great...an excellent post...this is a wonderful site full of encouragement...where God's Glory shines, but being open to anyone...from anywhere...with any background...you never really know who will pop up...thanks for the warning and the scripture...you are a blessing Brother!!! |
|
|
| Great word, Brother Todd! |

Cheryl: I can see that. You are cheerful and happy and some people just can't stand that. We need the Sanguines in this world for sure without y'all the world would be awfully boring. I am proud of you for sharing your personal experiences as they encourage others. The down side of that is when we are open to others we make our self vulnerable to being hurt.
MsSuga: Is that the name of the week? LOL I know it!! I can't believe everyone doesn't like me. I don't know what's wrong with them, they obviously have the problem. LOL :) Watch out, and think it over before you hit that submit key.
Birdie: Tank you mon! You meak me smilee mon. |

Todd, this is important advice to consider. Thanks for this post! And don't forget, there are also sheep in wolves' clothing roaming around!

|
| Mike: I remember that blog. I was the one that brought up the goats and it confused some. I remember you saying...that's another subject! Stick witht the sheep analogy. LOL I love it. |

| Hey Brother Todd...This is some wonderful advice here that you shared....and I also like the comments of Brother Mike (smile)....as for me, I always share what God places into my mind at the time....whether that be my personal testimony or the Word of God....My hope is that someone will be uplifted, encouraged, or learn a little bit more about the Word of God....Now if folks have problems with what I post...it don't bother me one bit (smile)....God has made me a tough cookie...LOL..LOL and I don't wear my feelings on my sleeve...you know oversensitive....I try to let the Word of God Speak...and that way...if there is a problem....I just say, don't be mad at the messengar....I just deliver the mail....Take up the issue with God ;o)...Oh I sleep good at night, especially when I've spoken what thus saith the Lord...through His Word....and I certainly don't expect everybody to like it..or understand it....but the seeds will be planted!....Beware when all men speak well of you....... |

YES, IT IS BAD THAT SOMETIMES YOU RUN ACROSS BROTHER AND SISTER FAULTFINDER !! ONE OF THE WAYS THAT YOU CAN AVOID THOSE PEOPLE IS TO POST YOUR BLOGS SO THAT ONLY YOUR FRIENDS CAN SEE THEM !! EXPECIALLY IF IT IS A PERSONAL OR A TESTIMONY BLOG !! YOU CAN DO THIS WITH EVERY BLOG THAT YOU POST BEFORE YOU HIT THE SUBMIT BUTTON. THERE IS A BOX THAT YOU CAN CHECK THAT WILL SAY "FRIENDS ONLY", AND WHEN THAT BOX IS CHECKED, THE ONLY ONES THAT WILL SEE THAT BLOG WILL BE THE ONES THAT YOU HAVE LISTED IN YOUR FRIENDS SECTION !! THIS IS A VERY GOOD BUTTON TO USE, AND IT WILL SOMEWHAT TAKE CARE OF YOUR PROBLEM !! THE WAY I SEE IT IS, IF ANYONE HAS A PROBLEM WITH GOD'S PEOPLE GETTING BLESSED, THEN THAT TELLS ME THAT THEY ARE SPENDING WAY TOO MUCH TIME ON THEIR COMPUTER, AND THEY NEED TO LOG OFF AND PICK THEIR BIBLE UP AND START READING !! LOL !!! |

| Amen Brother Great Blog!!! |

| As this is just a small facet of online ministry, we have to understand that everyone is not in the same frame of mind or level of spirituality. There is a diversity of dotrinal and dogmatic concepts that do not fare well with some. There are those of us like myself that is more mature and can see people through the eyes of Jesus. We must be fair yet honest. We must not judge but be truthful. We must speak the truth in love yet consider that others are wounded and have not gotten past issues that keep them bound in anger and hatred. We only have ourselves to blame if we are not sowing seeds of love and peace. |

Margie: You are so right that if we know it is right and it is a word from God let the chips fall. I remember when I first started preaching that I would worry how people would receive it. You know it seems obvious now, but then God had to teach me that those are not my words but His. But, we do have to focus on who it helps and if it helps even one grow closer to the LORD then it is worth it! Great Comment!
Jimmy: Excellent advice from the one who invited me to the Mychurch website. Yeah, that friends only button or church button will eliminate a lot unwanted flack. Getting in the Bible? Man you went from preaching to medeling! Wise words indeed!
Prophet Jay: Maturity is a great point. Those of us who have been around a while have learned that we all are at different stages of our faith. I agree wholeheartedly with your statement about speaking the truth in love and being sensitive to those who have wounds and are bound by anger and hatred. Excellent comment!
Cindylou: Thanks and we'll be careful together.
Bubbles: Hope you are doing well. Praying for you and Scott. |

Great point Todd, we do need to use discernment when we post online, whether it is here on Mychurch or on other sites. I have not actually had any nasty comments on any of my blogs, but then again I don't write a lot, and have not really broached any controversial subjects. Thanks for your input here. peace |

This is a topic that many have felt lead to blog about, and the reason is that it continues to always be a problem. When will we get it?? Well, I get it now. I have seen so many changes with the new churchs joining lately, and feel a very strong urgency to guard my heart. I especially do not believe how some of these new church's of the"Nicene Creed" believe. I don't expect everyone to have the same convictions as I, but there are some things being challenged that are the WORD OF GOD that is very disturbing to me and the direction this site may be going. Most of you all know me, and that my heart is pure in my motives. I love the Lord with all my heart. The church needs to peel the scales of their eyes and unplug their ears in some areas. (Ya'll may know what I am talking about.) Never-the-less, I think I will use use caution while on here from now on. |

| Good post. I just love you even more now, my brother. I do write what I feel when I have time and like to read others. I like to use my mom's old rule; "If you don't have something good to say about someone, don't say it at all" |

Glenn: Had there been any Hillary fans, you might have gotten some unwanted comments. You are right though if we don't cross into any controversial subjects we should be good to go.
Barvubuela: Well I think that there in an inate need to be right in all of us. Especially when it comes to matters of faith. There is also something in us that makes us want to share what we know so that others will benefit from our knowledge. As for the churches, I think we need to wake up and realize that times are changing right before our eyes. The Baby Boomers and the Gen Xers are the leaders now and we are seeing the new generation throw off the ways of the older generation. Some for the good and some for the bad. America has become a secular humanist society and what we are seeing today is Christianity and Humanism colliding and this is what we are seeing. If we choose to throw out the Bible as our authority for faith and practice then we will be left to do that which we think is right in our own eyes. Obviously, man as a whole will never choose right. I look at the MYChurch as a a mission field in and of itself, but also a place where we can sharpen our own understanding of what culture is preaching and teaching so that we might be better prepared to present the truth of the gospel. I don't know if we'll ever get it all together.
Victorious: I generally will shy away from entering into a debate or posting at all if I feel like it is not right or if I don't agree with it. I don't want to discourage free speech or expression. I remember one time though I got sucked into one and I knew it before I entered inot it, that it was not going to bring about any positive results as I already knew their position and the post was blasting mine. Anyway, I saw your comment on the other blog and I found it intriguing. I posted a response and would like to talk further and work it out in my mind even if I can't say I agree with you, I want to know where you are coming from. God bless you and love you too brother! |

This is good advise, I did this my first blog.... It wasn't that he was against me, because everyone has their own beliefs and not everyone sees eye to eye... it was; I went to his blog and he was quoting the bible and, then telling people if they believe in the bible they are crazy or go crazy... well he said take the bible literally... I thought that was a wrong influence, Now I am convicted about it; so I should have prayed about it before I did it..... Because God comes through loud and clear... so if I offended anyone I am sorry... I can take cretinism (sp) I might not like it but I will think about it... I know that I am not right all the time... lol all though it would be nice.... but I am always interested in other peoples views.... Anyway I am glad you brought this up Brother Todd, it keeps everyone in check, and realize what the big picture is.... and that is loving and building each other up in Christ... For God's glory... God bless everyone.... |
