| HUMILITY |
|
| |
My friends... I have this (below) in a frame. it was taken off the wall at my Grandparent's ranch in Paso Robles, CA. They went to be with the Lord when I was young and I have carried this around with me ever since... putting it up on the wall in a place of importance wherever I go. It's a true, humble and beautiful picture of the Secret Place, Peace, His Presence and the Calming Power to "be still and know that I am God". It's something we can aim for in this lifetime. Attainable, maybe? Love you...
Humility ~~ – ~~
Humility is perpetual quietness of thought. It is to have no trouble.
It is never to be fretted or vexed, irritable or sore... to wonder at nothing that is done to me, to feel nothing done against me.
Humility is to be at rest when nobody praises me and when I am blamed or despised.
Humility is to have a blessed home within myself where I can go and shut the door and kneel to my Father in secret, and be at peace as a deep sea of calmness when around and about me is trouble.

Yea, me either Bro Todd.
Ms. Melanie has a lot of knowledge and wisdom. I should shut up and listen more. Heehee!
I am glad you are my friend Ms. Melanie. Even when you speak the truth, and may cause my flesh to shriek, it is all to help me mature, and I know that. Thanks for taking me under your wing. |

I shall keep these words close to my heart. |

I was asked who Edward Kimball was, who wrote this above. This is what I know after reading Billy Graham's book, Just As I Am. Billy Graham was saved in 1934 during a series of revival meetings in Charlotte, North Carolina which were led by evangelist Mordecai Ham. It is also sometimes said that there were a chain of conversions leading to Billy Graham's conversion. The most common version of the story is: Sunday School teacher Edward Kimball helped lead Dwight L. Moody to Christ; J. Wilbur Chapman was converted at a Dwight L. Moody evangelistic meeting; Billy Sunday was converted at a Chapman meeting; Mordecai Ham was converted at Billy Sunday meeting; and Billy Graham was converted at a Mordecai Ham meeting. It's quite a heritage of Godly men and their fruit. My Great Aunt was a traveling evangelist for Aimee Semple McPherson and my Great Grandmother led the choir/worship at Billy Sunday's evangelistic meetings.
Thanks for your sweet comments my friends... beautiful is a great word describing a picture of His sweet Presence, the fragrance of our imminent victory. Blenda: Dr's favourite font! Love you... |

Thanks Brother Todd... me too. ;-) Sunshine, your hunger is astounding! Cindy, Cheryl, Minister Blenda, Suga... the sweet fragrance of victory is all over you and there is never a smell of smoke. :-) Love you |

| Joey... they are close to my heart as well. Our hearts are linked. :-) |

"Humility is to be at rest when nobody praises me ..." Humility is taking our eyes off ourselves, so we no longer see a need for praise (NOT that we don't enjoy it when it comes though). "...and when I am blamed or despised." Humility actually attempts to find truth in blame and criticism, at least a little bit, rather than promptly taking offense. Beautiful post Melanie. Humility, one of the most beautiful character traits of all. |

Ok! It is definately STARBUCKS TIME! You said:
My Great Aunt was a traveling evangelist for Aimee Semple McPherson.
WONKAS! Did your great Aunt share any wisdom or good stories? I had a prophetic word once that I needed to look at Aimee and study her out.
Looking forward to good coffee and good conversation! |

| Precious Mel, wonderful blog. We know all too well about humility on this level. I just had a flashback to the studios in Dallas and laptop flying across the room. That is what you call humility even when under attack and under oppression. Love you and look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks. My love to Cindy and the rest of the friends and family in the desert. Shalom, ~DR |

Humility is awesome -- The humble man can hear and be glad. Humble men get lifted by the Lord and it is the opposite of pride : the sin of satan. this is an attribute of the Lord!

Coreena... HE is wonderful, isn't HE. Hope you are well. Mike n Laura, it's always a pleasure hearing your wisdom in every circumstance; your 'ministry' on here is so valuable! As you said, Humility is Beautiful. It's all about HIM, isn't it. Thanks Mrs. W, it's humbling getting a comment from you, dear lady. You are so genuine. :-) Dear DR T... you always know how to bring tears to my eyes, remembering the good, the bad and the ugly. LOL (Omgsh, it was so humbling sharing that frightful trip to the TV Studios, you will never let me forget it, will you??) NO MORE flashbacks or I'll post the picture of you at your b'day party with the sombrero on!! LOL I know how you have to approve of every pic that is made public for the world to see!! Sunshine... Aimee's life was about the Word, preaching the Word with signs and wonders following; she did it alot through powerful illustrations. Some people 'get it' through visual applications such as drama or skits, theatrical plays. Aimee was much like Kathryn Kuhlman in that her ministry was recognized for her (His) miraculous healings. |
