I hope that as a Christian I always have the desire to grow and mature in my walk with Jesus Christ. Yet, in truth, my desire does not always match my reality. There are times, intentional or not, that I get content or complacent with where I am in my walk with Jesus. I looked up the definition for complacency and this is what I found: self-satisfaction especially when accompanied by unawareness of actual dangers or deficiencies. Scare me; self-satisfied and unaware of danger or deficiency. Complacency “hoovers”!
Well, in order to shake myself out of complacency I have to go back and remind myself what my position is in Jesus. I have to look in the mirror and scream: Will I Just Grow Up Already?! After that, it doesn’t take me long to remember that, in Jesus my position is perfect: I have righteousness from God. 1:17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith; as it is written, "He who through faith is righteous shall live." I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. I am complete in Christ; 2:10 and you have come to fulness of life in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. and have all things that pertain to life and godliness. 1:3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, I have all spiritual blessings in Christ. 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, Reminding myself and knowing that I am and have all of those things, enables me to begin to operate and continue to grow as God intended me to do, in Jesus. If have discovered, with a lot of help, that finding and staying in the right position is a life-long journey not a destination.
As I am connected to The Vine; as I prioritize my spiritual growth and watch my grow along with having other watch my growth; when I have a revelation and not just knowledge of what spiritual growth is and isn't, I begin to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus, to him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. Later, Ed |
