I fell off the wagon last night. Hard. I attended a party that had more alcohol available than I've seen since being in a bar. I had none of it, but I did go over to the other table, with all the food, and bowed to the god of my stomach.
I have been on a God inspired fast of sugar, and it has been extremely challenging. I can truly say I am addicted. I have not actually made it without sugar, because I was really focusing on desserts and sugary snacks, but there are plenty of foods with sugar as an ingredient, and I managed to find starchy or other substitutes which didn't actually satisfy but still sort of filled the "gap" I was feeling. A lesser god. Ugh. But last night, I chucked my fast and gorged on every single food available, and most of them were sticky, gooey desserts. Gluttony isn't pretty, now or later. And I hate being under the rule of anything but God. I want to be fully available to God for His purposes and plans, and if I'm bowing to any other god, I am not. Yuck.

I have asked God for forgiveness, and gratefully receive it, but I want more. I want to walk in His power and anointing, the self-control that comes through His Spirit, and have victory over focusing on anything less than His best. May it be so, for me, and for you, in the resurrection power of Jesus Christ. Hallelujah!

I just voted for you and saw this blog too. I so relate to you. I am a recovering overeater and bulimic. The Lord had me give up sugar for a long time because I was physically addicted to it. Please take a minute to check out my profile page. I think you would enjoy my blog HALT too.

Actually, Coreena, I'd already enjoyed your profile and related, as I too, struggled with bulimia for many years after stepping into that tornado of bingeing and purgeing in college- then I just binged and gained weight- ugh. God has taken me through that, hallelujah, but there are obviously residual issues, plus America's very unhealthy (ok, it's not just U.S.) relationship to food. Now I'll go read your recommended blog, thanks!

OOH, Lara, you hit another sore spot with me! I have found myself feeling like I traded who I used to be as a calm single woman with some alien MAD MOMMY! I know a great deal of it has to do with poor sleep schedule and too much sugar trying to compensate for tiredness. SO since I know that, I should be wiser and do better, right? Yep, I should. Help me, Lord!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
