still catching up... hopefully this will be a blessing to somebody!
6/1/08 Speaker: Major Amy Kelly Scripture: Romans 3:21-28
Law, Grace, Faith
God has a way to make people right with Him without the law. We are all sinners - we cannot save ourselves. Jesus came to fulfill the law. The only way to the Father is through Jesus. 1 Peter 1:10
Salvation comes from faith - law is important to keep order. Our standard to live by. We get to heaven through grace, but we still have to follow the law. The 10 commandments are still relevant and to be followed.
v. 22 There is no difference - all are saved by faith in Jesus. We are made righteous thru Him. Salvation is not from the law. Jesus is the only way people are saved.
v. 24 justifed = delcared righteous We don't deserve it. We can't earn it. It is the grace of Christ. It's accepting the gift. Our lives should show that we have accepted this gift.
On our own we have no righteousness.
v. 27 boasting? excluded. We are justified apart from the law. The law condemns us. Jesus saves us, we should only boast about Him. His blood covers everyone's sin.
No more animal sacrifices.
We can't brag about works, declaring we are Christian because we don't do this or that. We should be humble, we haven't done anything to deserve salvation. Only God can give the gift of eternal life.
2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Instead we give God Glory. We say "Look at what God has done and what He can do"
** I wrote this down, and I can't remember if we actually sang this song or not!
What the Lord has done for me I cannot tell it all He saved me and washed me in His blood.
