Too Easy to Grumble

I have to admit, it is easy to gripe and complain. I am prone to always zero in on what is bugging me. But I have been convicted that I am too focused on that and fail to realize just how much I have to rejoice in the Lord for!

I woke up this morning! God granted me the blessing of a new day to love Him and serve Him and live for Him! I had a roof over my head and central air in the house so I didn't wake up in a sweaty mess. I heard the precious voices of two little children who came from me! They love me despite the mistakes I make as a parent. I was awakened by the gentle touch of an amazing women who promised to God to love me for the rest of our lives. The cereal we had for breakfast came from grains raised on our farm through an amazing process of planting and harvesting as God gave just the right rain and sun to grow them. The milk in the cereal came from a process in cows that defied understanding. My wife and I both had jobs to go to today. Both of our cars got us to work safely. As I drove, I could see the sun sitting at a perfect distance from the earth to sustain life on this planet. I could see green grass and wonderful trees. I am able to make a living by doing what I love - teach the Bible and help people draw closer to Jesus. I got to teach a Bible study about 500 feet from Lake Erie.

Sure, there are any number of things I could be griping about right now, but God has given me so much more to be thankful for!

I was praying over this issue just the other day. Feeling a 'lil 'jealous' that I wasn't showing the joy I have seen in many other Christians - like I was bumping from one 'life issue' to another. And I stopped, and realized I have it SOOOO GOOD!

All the things you mentioned, plus the thing that I think we know without always putting tops in the list. No matter how screwy life is 'here' - we have an eternal home waiting in Heaven in the presence of the Lord, where all this trouble will be a shadow of a hint of a memory.

Amen - so true! And just think - all these blessings are nothing compared to what it will be like when we are with Jesus in heaven! It can also be easy, the longer you are a Christian, to remember what our fate would be if Jesus did not die on the cross for our sins! Imagine awaiting eternity in hell with no hope of heaven? Thank You, Jesus!

Oh, and to come in the church today and see that the A/C has pooped out on us again - just happened one month ago. But I remember that there are Christians in other parts of the world who have to worship in secret for fear of their lives. Tonight's Bible study may be a smidge warm, but praise God we can gather in a place and not fear for our lives.

And I can't promise the air will be working for Sunday!
