I love this scripture. I used to have this posted as a stickie at one of my jobs that I hated (v. 6-8) and it kept me going.
the latter part of this text is amazing and so true! the LOVE of money, makes folk do all kinds of things. Money itself is not evil, for it is good to have a little love in your pocket! haha but when it crosses the line of obession and love of monye, it turns deadly. Just ask the bank robber, the money launderer, the murderer (for money), etc.
6:6 There is great gain in godliness with contentment; 6:7 for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world; 6:8 but if we have food and clothing, with these we shall be content. 6:9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and hurtful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evils; it is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced their hearts with many pangs. |
