| A Time for Everything... |

Last night, Ruth and I, along with our Advisory Council in Buckhannon, WV, conducted a Volunteer Appreciation Banquet to thank the folks who help us year round in Upshur County, West Virginia. I would like to publically thank the Moose Lodge, who not only provided the venue, but also donated and prepared the food for the event. Now, I don't normally eat at events like this especially when I am going to sing or speak, because I always get food on my tunic, but I did taste everything. They prepared Baked Steak, Green Beans, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy, Great Sweet Tea, and I don't remember if there was dessert, but if there was, I am certain it was yummy too. It was a great time. We honored an Advisory Council Member who has helped and been a part of The Salvation Army (almost daily) for three and half decades. Creed Pletcher IS the man. He has taken advantage of his time on Earth to be happy and to Do Good.
It reminded me of a time for everything. Ecclesiastes 3 - (1)There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: (v9) What does man gain from his toil? (12) I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live.
When we give of our time... in a time like this... we can be happy (happiness to others) and (happiness for ourselves) and we can do good (Doing Good for ourselves) and most importantly (Doing Good for others.) This is who we are. I am glad that God has placed me where he has in a time like this. I am not writing of the location, although Clarksburg, WV, is a great place to be. I am writing that I am happy to live in a day and age where we have to ability to do more Good than ever before. We can be happier than ever before. We live in a world today amidst a society, that if you truly could know and the veil were lifted and you could see directly into people's hearts, within many you will find strong unhappiness. People you work with, dine with, shop with as you pass them in your favorite department store. Even folks who occupy a seat on a pew on Sunday morning. The truth is there are people around us that are unhappy. We may even be in an unhappy state even now. However, in this moment in time, while you live, you have the opportunity to be happy and do Good. The writer of Ecclesiastes says that there is nothing better. Do you remember the joy you felt when you made Jesus the Lord of your life? You were happy about your life in that very moment, but also the heavens were happy too as the Angels partied on your behalf. Another sinner has come home - party! With that happiness, we can take the light of the Lord to the world and do Good. "Doing the Most Good," is where I see this. If we are Doing the most Good with the moments that God has given us to be alive, if we are using our personal finances to do the most Good, we will have no other option than to be HAPPY! TO DO GOOD! Good for you, and Good for others. Others... including an Almighty God who expects no less from us, His very own creation.
So, I ask myself three questions today. I encourage you to ask them of yourself today as well:
1. Are I happy today? (With myself?) (For others?) 2. Am I doing Good? (For myself?) (For others?) 3. Am I taking advantage of the time and resources that I have and am receiving from God Himself, to be the hands and feet of God as He radically transforms a life?
God bless you today! Now get out there and be happy and DO some Good!
Also, please comment and share what you think!
