| The Fear of Yahweh (The Fear of the Lord). |
|
| |
Shalom everyone! Here are some of my thoughts on "The Fear of Yahweh". Perhaps there are other characteristics, but these are the major ones...
First of all, the fear of the Lord is not to be living your life scared of God! We are to walk in Faith not Fear! Walking in fear is not walking in faith!
1. Having a Deep Reverence for God. 2. Having a Healthy Respect. You are dealing with a Holy & Righteous God. The children of Israel have found that out the hard way! 3. Having "Awe" of Yahweh. God is all powerful, all knowing, present everywhere and eternal! He knows everything about everything and anything, including the future! The Creator of the universe! It`s kind of hard not to have awe of such a being! Well, those are my thoughts. I`d like to hear from some of you! In Y`shua, Tom

to fear the Lord.... this is what I "think"
Deu 6:2That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
H3372 ירא yârê' yaw-ray' A primitive root; to fear; morally to revere; causatively to frighten: - affright, be (make) afraid, dread (-ful), (put in) fear (-ful, -fully, -ing). (be had in) reverence (-end), X see, terrible (act, -ness, thing).
I feel we should quake in our soles, to fall prostrate, to have our bones fall asunder thinking about being in His awesome presence. I know He sees everything I do, and knows everything I think, I moan at night, as I pray over what I have done that day, and as I think the thoughts of man, I cringe when His Holy Spirit reprimands me, and brings to my mind that I have done something in His presence, but as I go along the day, sometimes I harden my heart, so as not to feel His nudges, and that is when He will whack me across the head, and wake me up from my slumber and force me to my knees and cry for His forgiveness for allowing my heart to harden towards Him. |
