This morning, as I sat on my back porch and had my coffee, God showed me something. For as far as I could see, the trees were moving with life. Birds, squirrels, I could see movement in almost every tree. As I was looking, God said to me: "I am the tree". Thoughts filled my head of what a tree is. From it's very first sprouting, it's respiration process converts the gases in the air into Oxygen that is needed for the survival of almost all living creatures. It's leaves provide food for many of those same animals. As it grows, it provides shade from the hot sun, shelter from the rain, a home for many birds and small climbing mammals and insects. We cut them down and use the wood to build our homes, make our furniture, paper and many other products that are essential for life. Some types of trees even have medicinal properties! There are many different types and styles, many different names for them, yet trees surround us constantly and all of them serve a multitude of purposes. I can't think of anywhere you can go (even in a large city) that you can't see trees and many of their productions. If nothing else, every breath you take is due to the oxygen they have produced! Yet, how often do you stop to look at a tree? How often do you marvel at it's capacities? How often does it cross your mind that life depends on them? Your life, the life of all of the world depends on the survival of these magnificent things!
God is like this...
He is omnipresent (he is every where you go, surrounding you). He constantly covers you with his love.
"Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." Hebrews 13:5
He is the very creator and supplier of ALL of our needs, (even the trees).
"But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19
He supplies a place for us to rest.
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30
God is everything we need. He is our very creator, our savior, our healer, our strength, our life. He constantly surrounds us and is everywhere we go. He has many different names and he manifests himself in many different ways. Yet, how often do we stop to look for him? How often do we marvel at his capacities? How often does it cross your mind that life depends on him? Your life, the life of the entire world depends on him!
God is our tree! God loves us, even though we neglect to notice him, and we take advantage of him and take him for granted, he loves us and he will keep on loving us.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
And, if you'll just stop to notice him, he'll supply all of your needs.
"And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work" 2 Corinthians 9:8
If you put your faith in Christ, He'll strengthen you and lead you.
"I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me." Philippians 4:13
He is the reason for our life. He makes it worth it!
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28
