I have a 'musical theater' anaolgy.. do I apologize? hehehe.. Sound of Music.. the Captain banned (indirectly?) music from the house after the death of his wife... and when music was restored to the house.. healing happened. I remember that first VBS, I think that was your first day of work.. (still am amused by that...) and your music lifted everyone, healing began. But there are some songs.. that we haven't sung on Sat night for whatever reasons that really do mean something to the Sat night worshippers. Your kickin' version of How Great Thou Art... Days of Elijha are 2 examples that spring to mind. Some are songs that the 'other' band played... and feel.. 'banned' but when they come into worship.. I sense the spirit of worship burst into a fit of joy.

Music really is a heart-core of worship (I'll add the disclaimer: for me) and since your timely arrival, I realize how much healing it can bring. And I.. think.. that each time you play a song from the 'past' it frees us up. The music of VBS, the joy... it's that child-joy that's bright, uncomplicated.. pure.. and is simply infectious if we let our defenses down. And.. thanks to God.. we all seem completely willing to allow and bea part of that.

When the congregation comes together.. whether for VBS, a Discipleship Matters conference, PACEM.. I feel almost saturated in God's Spirit.

Personally.. I feel called to listen to God more and more.. (hence VBS 2009) radical trust in God..
