Great services this morning! My first message on the home went well. Turning a house into a a home was the theme. I stressed the importance of God being at the center of our homes. Only God can give us a motive, a power and a love to have a solid Christian home. I referred Joshua challenging the people in chapter 24. 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that [were] on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. Then I pointed out that Joshua used a physical act to mark a spiritual decision. The placing of the stone was a reminder of the commitment the people made that day to live for the Lord. 24:26 And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God, and took a great stone, and set it up there under an oak, that [was] by the sanctuary of the LORD. 24:27 And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness unto us; for it hath heard all the words of the LORD which he spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness unto you, lest ye deny your God. We gave everyone who came to church a stone. At the end of the service we asked them to commit to a Christian Home and to publicly seal this commitment by placing the stone in a container in front of our Heaven Help the Home house. The response was overwhelming. You could hear each stone as it dropped int he container, what a sweet sound. Join me in prayer for each individual who made a decision today to establish a Christian home. So like I said Church really did rock. :) The sermon will soon be up on our web site if you would like to listen.
