This site also has a way to help others in the local church who are in need.
Click on the "Post Sharing" link at the upper right on your home church's main page.

I know what you mean Cheryl.  I touched on this subject some time back.  People will travel over land and sea to feed one of their own kind, but they won't feed someone living next door to them who is not.  It needs to be SEEN to be working at local level before it's seen at a national level.  Just the basic things that most people take for granted could be the most treasured thing for those who don't take things for granted - cos it show to them that somebody cares about what they're going through.

On a personal note.  I attended a church some time back that fully-funded a home for orphan's, single parents with children, women that had been sexually abused (raped, mutilated etc etc) somewhere in Africa by African troops.  But when it came to the same situation in the UK - minus the African troop tag being attached to it, its up to the authorities to do that.  People (especially women) are open and as vulnerable to the same situation - and they're right on our own doorstep, but nobody hears their cries for help.  It goes back to what I said in paragraph one.  People will travel over land and sea to feed one of their own kind, but they won't feed someone living next door to them who is not.

Cherly,

It is amazing how so many people can forget the basics of what we need, when there are millions of others out there who don't. Thanks for the eye opener and I hope that others will read this as well.

Jesus, Immanuel, God in the flesh gave us the example to follow, how to walk in love, how to be kind and tenderhearted, and I thank Him for making me sensitive to others needs, and giving me the inspiration and vision to help others walk through the pain and tears because joy comes in the morning, and so many need direction and love and I've been blessed with a vision and am working toward that end and helping others along the way, and the feeling is excellent-beyond words. We can make a difference every day by plotting to help people that are less fortunate than us. I am working with 2 different ministries and full time in a medical drug detox that only employs Christian Counselors. I work with a food bank and receive hundreds of dollars of food for free each week and I get to help families and bums on the street to eat on my time off. Jesus please use me even more I pray, and help me to make a difference today. God Bless you and be encouraged in your faith, He makes a way where there is no way, and we are continually triumphing in Christ

Your friend and brother in Christ, JT

Yep girl scouts always had us give to the battered womens shelters. I always bake tons of fudge at least 15 different flavors and give to my neighbors, peers at work, battered womens shelters, and the homeless shelters. It is something my mom and I shared.

I love to give whenever I see a bum.... Now that I am hanging with the thugs the drug dealers who are teaching me even more to be a pool shark I even give to addicts... a dollar or some change and if they ask again I will give more, and we will say the sinners prayer and pray. I will share some testimony and I will give 5 or 10 I mean if it is his last hit and he is feeling close to dying I am sure he will quickly get right with God.

Our Sunday school class is always providing gift cards, or care baskets or whatever is needed to families in need.  All we need is to know where the need is and we will help if we can.  There is always someone who needs something.  Great idea!
