Speaker: Major Andy Kelly Scripture: Psalm 89:1-18
"Love and Loyalty"
v.1 The Lord's love and loyalty = mercy and faithfulness
Ethan's words of God's love and loyalty preceed his lament over what has happened.
We have minor setbacks in our lives but we are not defeated - we have victory in Christ Jesus.
The devil tells us lies, that we are unworthy etc. The truth is we are made worthy and righteous thru Jesus Christ.
We need to follow the example set in Ephesians, put on the whole armor of God daily. Belt of Truth- 3 basic truths 1st truth - God loves us
3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life. 2nd truth - God will never leave us or forsake us! He is omnipresent "Jehovah-Rammah" 3rd truth - We already have the victory through Jesus Christ.
We need to remind ourselves of these truths everyday. We can use these truths to fight the lies of satan.
v.3-4 God has made an eternal covenant
119:89 For ever, O Jehovah, Thy word is settled in heaven. 119:90 Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: Thou hast established the earth, and it abideth. NOTHING CAN CHANGE THE WORD OF GOD. Nothing can be added to or taken away from the Word of God.
Jesus came to fulfill the law, not to do away with the law. We still have to follow the ten commandments. We must do good and not evil.
God's faithfulness is for ALL generations. Forever!
8:16 Since the day that I brought forth my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house, that my name might be there; but I chose David to be over my people Israel.
9:7 But Jehovah sitteth `as king' for ever: He hath prepared his throne for judgment; When we take Christ as our Savior, we are adopted into the family of David, the kingdom that has been established by God forever.
v. 6-8 His faithfulness surrounds Him who is everywhere and it surrounds us! The New Century Version says Who is like You? You are completely trustworthy.
v. 7 fear = reverance in a right relationship. Fear meaning afraid is if we are not in a right relationship with Him.
v. 10 slain Egypt When we trust in the Lord, He will scatter our enemies. v. 11 Heaven and Earth belong to Him.
v. 15 Happy are the people that know how to praise You (NCV) living in the light of your presence.
v. 16 Rejoice all day long in His name.
Even if we turn our backs on God, He is still faithful - waiting for us to come back to Him. It's up to us to keep the relationship alive - He lets us choose.
He wants us to stay faithful to Him. If we don't daily walk with Him we will be weak and it will be harder to resist the temptation to sin.
Stay faithful to Him who is faithful forever.
