Christians need to show up at the poles this year more than ever. The Bible teaches that we should persevere. Well, many of us are burnt out on trying to straighten out the mess our government is in. We are so close to political victory. We do not realize the nature of the present political atmosphere. It is not friendly toward the Christian faith. The Christian faith makes no quarter in calling all other religions, false. But legislation and acts of the courts are about to strip our right to proclaim our Saviour as the only way to God. Jesus Christ has changed lives one at a time through our churches and related ministries even in trying times. We must not throw in the towel at the last hour because the political balance against us is on the verge of getting their way. I confess that I don't know if there is anyone who can singlehandedly lead us out of this quagmire of sin and depravity that seems to be gaining control of our blessed country. If it is not too late, we need a national revival. We must reverse this trend in America to call good evil and evil good. This is exactly the kind of legislation that is afoot in Washington at this hour. The fairness legislation could make it illegal for Christians to call sin sin. The rights of homosexuals and the right of abortion seem to be looming on the horizon, even at the threshold of this election. I don't know if we realize it or not, but we are just one supreme court justice away from overturning Roe vs Wade, which gives the right to murder babies for the convenience of an immoral society. I can't speak for God concerning His judgement on such a nation but I can't help but feel that His judgement has to be imminent if America decides to call evil good. Cursed is the nation that calls good evil and evil good. On the other hand. "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD." One candidate has boldly and braggingly said that America is no longer a Christian nation but it is a Christian, Muslim, Buddhist,...Secular nation. Well, we have become increasingly secular and there are more Muslims and Buddhists and other religions in America and some of them are growing faster than the church. This has indeed become the "garden of the gods". This should serve as a rebuke to the church of God. He has brought the world to us and we have neglected His call to reach them with the gospel of Christ. Therefore they are growing in this once Christian nation. Are we a Christian nation? No we are not. Can we become one again? Only God knows. However we can begin to pray for a 'national revival'. We need to be revived lest God remove His hand of blessing. The only thing that holds back the fall od America is the hand of God. We need the hand of God on our nation now more than ever. The answer to our delima is not political only but it is also spiritual. Churchmen are apathetic about the condition of our country. The only thig that will save our nation is that lives be changed by the power of God. May we surrender to God and His Word and obey it. May we become informed responsible followers of Christ and be used of God to carry His message to the lost of America as well as to those around the world. Only God's hand can bring revival. Will you commit to spend time in prayer and be one of those that share the gospel of Jesus Christ daily to a lost and dying world. |
