This past winter the Alabama Supreme court, by force, removed the 10 commandments from their place in the courthouse and Justice Roy Moore.
A few months ago, the movie the "Passion of the Christ" hit the theaters and the "controversial movie" hit the airwaves. It was branded as; "too violent, anti-Semitic, and a work of hate.
On Friday, the U.S. Supreme court heard arguments about the phrase "Under God" in our pledge of allegiance."
A moral dilemma facing our Nation is legalizing "same sex marriages" and all of those who oppose it are branded as intolerant, hateful, and narrow minded.
Why are we living in an increasingly hostile environment to Christians and Biblical values?
The Bible is clear that we should not be surprised that our culture has turned away from God. Listen to what it says:
I. We are living in the "last days"
"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power..." 2 Timothy 3:1-5
II. The world hated Christ, and they will continue to hate Him and those who love Him.
Jesus said, "And you will be hated by all for My names’ sake, But he who endures to the end will be saved." Matthew 10:22
"And you, will be hated by all for My names’ sake." Luke 21:17
"If the world hates you keep in mind that it hated me first, If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember the worlds I spoke to you no servant is greater than his master, if they hated me they will hate you, if they persecuted me they will persecute you as well." Jn 15:18-20
III. The human heart is exceedingly wicked. "The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? Jer. 17:9
"The LORD saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth h ad become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time." Gen 6:5
"As it was in the days of Noah, so will it be when the Son of Man appears." Matthew 24:37
IV. The carnal mind sets itself up against God.
"Because the carnal mind is enmity (hostile) against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then those that are in the flesh can not please God." Romans 8:7
V. The carnal mind can not understand the things of God.
"But the natural man does not receive the things of the Sprit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them because they are spiritually discerned." I Cor 2:14
VI. Man has rejected the knowledge of God (hardened their hearts.)
Roms 1:19 "because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and God head, so that they are without excuse, because although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts and their foolish hearts were darkened"......"There for God gave them up..."
In conclusion:
1. We should not be surprised by the hostility we face.
2. We need to realize that the more hostile the environment we live in the stronger we need to be.
3. As the last days approach we will see an increase in evil and the powers of darkness.
4. We must remember, "Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world." I Jn 4:4
5.II Chron 6:14 "If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
