Someone recently told me that hypocrisy in some churches is so widespread, that there is no difference between Christianity and other 'religions' . While i hastened to mention that i dont follow any religion when i try to follow Christ Jesus(at least God doesnt ask me to follow any religion..) , it got me thinking. Really.. what made that person say that statement? How much of judging and condemning did that person have to go through? Would i say the same words if i had gone through all the stuff this person went through? Would i do worse? Would i chuck my faith because of how the saints have behaved with me? Huh? I also wanted to ask- HOW on earth did Jesus manage to hate the sin,yet love the sinner? (remember the lady ready to be stoned for adultery? " Neither do I condemn you-GO AND SIN NO MORE." says our Lord. )
That is something we(most of us) fail to do.. love the sinner. Yes its hard..it MUST be hard, i dont know.. i dont remember me loving sinners (in-fact, i remember me doing quite the contrary stuff !) for eg, how many of us wud have the guts to invite a gay couple to church? ANYWAY, WHY should we..? what's my motive in inviting a gay couple to church? If they want condemning, THEY know 100 places where they will receive it,free of cost. Why GO to church to listen to some more? To those who are ready to reply to me.. my actual question is, how do u handle such issues? Does showing love come as a priority or does pointing out their faults? OF COURSE, thats one example ,now we can go on ad infinitum with that debate.. What eats the church ? |
