| Four Good Reasons for Difficult Times |
|
| |
1. Sometimes difficult things happen to us so that the glory and power of God can be revealed in and through us.
9:3 Jesus answered, Neither did this man sin, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
2. God uses difficult times to purify us.
4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ suffered in the flesh, arm ye yourselves also with the same mind; for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
12:10 For they indeed for a few days chastened `us' as seemed good to them; but he for `our' profit, that `we' may be partakers of his holiness.
3. Sometimes our misery is caused by God disciplining us.
12:11 All chastening seemeth for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yieldeth peaceable fruit unto them that have been exercised thereby, `even the fruit' of righteousness.
12:5 and ye have forgotten the exhortation which reasoneth with you as with sons, My son, regard not lightly the chastening of the Lord, Nor faint when thou art reproved of him; 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, And scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
4. Sometimes we are caught in the midst of the enemy's work.
14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may be with you for ever, 14:17 `even' the Spirit of truth: whom the world cannot receive; for it beholdeth him not, neither knoweth him: ye know him; for he abideth with you, and shall be in you.
5:4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
