| Fearing God |

Many people think that to fear God is to cringe and tremble at his name as with a father who is cruel to his children. That is not the kind of fear that God wishes us to have. God is the God of love and it is not in His nature to have us trembling at the mere mention of His name. No the fear of God goes much deeper than just feelings. When we truly fear God we put Him in His correct place in our lives....first. God was once asked by one of His Prophets (I forget who for the moment) What can I do for thee Lord. God answered, the Heaven is my throne and the earth my footstool. In other words God was saying....Ha Ha I made you and everything....what can you give me? You see God does not need us yet He has made himself dependant on us in some respect. When we fear God (or believe in His total Majestic power) He respects our human nature and grants us wisdom to understand. Without this fear we will be like the Wandering Jews, All we try to do in the Lords name will be ineffective because of our lack of reverence (fear) of the Lord! 1 My child,[a] listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. 2 Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. 3 Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. 4 Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. 5 Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God. 6 For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. 7 He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. 8 He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him. |
