37:39 But the salvation of the righteous [is] of the LORD: [he is] their strength in the time of trouble. 37:40 And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.

Passion like these is what made that organization so great!

Steve:  I have heard William Boothe credited for this saying but I am not sure if it is his or is quoted correctly.  It says:  "If a man could spend just 5 minutes in Hell he would become the world's greatest evangelist."  Something to that effect.  Have you heard that?

Bro. Todd:  I've not heard that quote from Booth before, but it does sound like something he would say.

It is amazing what us Christians will say in the spirit of Jesus Christ. As I say all good we do comes not from us but Jesus Christ  amen

It's great to look back at what has been said by leaders in our Army.  We have such a rich and colorful heritage.

Tomorrow I am preaching on overcoming discouragement to our residents at the ARC. Here is another great Army quote from Eliza Shirley
"Discouragement is a curse. When a person is discouraged, the battle is lost. Neither God nor man can use a discourage person. Trials and difficulties are never meant to be discouragements. If they become discouragements, it is because we have been defeated. We have forgotten their ministry to us."

May we never be defeated

Steve, thanks for the great collection for our church fathers (and mothers).

For years, I've heard versions of the quote you attribute to Scott, which I've also seen credited to others in the Army's early history.   However, I've never been able to find any first-hand references.  By chance did you find yours in any of the books (or booklets) Scott penned?

I like the one about the Bible giving us power, I HAVE TO APPLY THAT DAILY!
