Hebrews 12:2-4 KJV Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. You guys here on mychurch seem to enjoy the things that I write, so here is another classic song for you to sing with me... Okay, just like before, Altogether now, at the count of-a 1, and-a 2, and-a 3... Were you there when they crucified my Lord? Were you there? Were you there when they crucified my Lord? Were you there? Oh-oh -oh -oh...Sometimes it causes me to tremble...tremble...tremble, Were you there when they Crucified my Lord? Were you there my child, in the smelly manger on the day of my birth? Sure, you celebrate my birth every year, although I never required it of you, but what are you really celebrating? Right now you are detested when a homeless man that hasn't bathed in many days asks you for a few coins to buy something to eat. You may even reach for a coin or two because you feel guilty, but in your heart you despise him. You look down your nose at the addicts and alcoholics and prostitutes, yet they don't smell any worse than the place where I was born. Were you there to weep with me when I looked towards Jerusalem with compassion? So why do you look at your towns and cities with contempt for all the things you see wrong in them? What have you done lately that I should be so gracious as to smile upon you when you spend all the day frowning and complaining about your circumstances and your situations as if you were the only person on the earth with troubles. Were you there the day I was betrayed by the friend I loved so dearly? Yet you claim to have so many friends, but when one person says they don't like you, you act as if everyone in the world hates you and you begin to grumble and speak against things that you have no control over. Were you there when the soldiers beat me with their fists, and mocked me to scorn? Yet when someone speaks evil of you instead of holding your peace you raise the fist and spew poison from your mouth. Is that what I suffered for? Were you there when I was falsely accused, and then scourged? Did you see my flesh being ripped to shreds while I withstood all of the pain and agony to save your pitiful soul? Yes I love you my child but do you really love me as you say you do? Did you ever wonder why you keep going through the same things over and over again? You keep making the same mistakes over and over again. What do I have to do to make you understand? Does everything have to be about you? Were you there when they laid me on the cross and drove the nails through my hands and feet as I bled profusely from the gaping wounds throughout my body? Could you look upon my disfigured face as I was raised upright only for you to see my naked form exposed for all to see my shame? Did you hear me as I forgave my tormenters in the midst of my suffering? Why is it you still have bitterness and resentment for other's so long after they offended you? What has anyone done to you that is worse than what was done to me? You speak of me as if you really knew me but you don't really know me the way I want to be known. Could you be honest with yourself for once and admit that you only know what you want to know, and that you have neglected the more important virtues of mercy, truth and compassion? You weren't there when they laid me in the tomb, or when I went to the depths of hell to take the keys from my adversary. You weren't there when I arose on the third day as the firstfruits of all that will be resurrected. You weren't there when my believers were persecuted and imprisoned and murdered for my name's sake. I was there with you though when you were born, and throughout every part of your life. even the parts when you thought I wasn't there. I'm there with you now, even if you don't feel me close by. I will always be with you until your time is ended and you return to the dust from whence you came. I just have two more questions to ask you. Will you be there for me when I need you? Are you there for me now? The word of the Lord
